I'm thinking Limp Mode...
so today as I was driving the car it wouldnt accelerate past the 2k RPM mark. Pulled over and turned it off. Back on and everything was good again. Did it again tonight and again turned it off and back on and everything was good.
No check engine light or anything. I have noticed after I run my AC and turn it off I am getting a lot of hot air coming through the vents and down by the shifter. Any thoughts? I just want 6 months of trouble free issues:rolleyes: |
Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode......
Limp mode gives you 2nd gear, not limit RPMs.
SRT or NA? |
Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode......
Im thinking I was in 2nd gear because I could still drive, but not accelerate any further.
SRT. |
Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode......
Was it running fine and then all of a sudden no power? - Intercooler/Heat Exchanger pump perhaps?
|
Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode......
Yeah i had the AC on and all of a sudden it lost power. I have noticed over the past few months I been noticing a decline in power. Maybe its all leading up to this....
I think Frank(Never Enough) put a upgraded one in the car. How u can tell if its the intercooler pump?

Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode......
If when you first start out and before the car gets really warmed up you have gobs of power, then once hot the power just dies and the car runs like a BLACK NA car. Then it's probably the pump.

Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
When my pump went bad the supercharger wouldn't kick in after the car warmed up. Every now and then when I would accelerate, the car wouldn't go past 60. It sounds like you need an intercooler pump. If your a handyman and you think.you can do it yourself I recommend it. Save yourself 800 dollars to have a dealership put it in for you.

Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
I'll start with the IC pump and then do the super cooler. Hopefully its fixed.

Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
Well I have had the the no power thing again. This time it seams worse like it has no power at all will barely move the car. I went to the dealership as it had tripped a code the check engine light was on. They said it was the transmission had a leak and was low of fluid. So they fixed the leak ,and I get the car back it does it again wont run. I take it right back to the dealer and they cannot duplicate it. They say the car runs fine when they have it. SO is it the ic pump or the throttle position sensor or something else.

Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
Uh oh. Might be the dreaded transmission connector leak

Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
That sucks Modless. Hopefully u get that figured out soon maybe it is the IC pump.
I do have the Johnson CM30 Pump. Retarded if its already bad. Anyways, DJ, I took ur advice and ran the car all day today everything was fine. Then, it happened about 2 hours later. Turned it off and back on everything was fine. Now this is odd to me and maybe someone can chime in. My odometer is bright green right now i think brighter then normal. When the car loses power my odometer #'s gets all choppy and disfigured then the car loses power. When its back to normal the car is fine. Could it be the battery? Im going to go with a bosh pump and swap it out and see if it works since its the cheapest to do. I really hope its just the IC pump on the verge of failure and thats it. Can u access the pump without taking the bumper off? |

Remove front passenger wheel and inner fender well plastic. Pump will be staring at you. You say you turn it off and then the power is back? Could be something else. |
Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
You can access the pump from the passenger side fender well. You will have to remove the fender liner which is very easy to do. Hope this helps.
Edit: Oops..... Tighed beat me to it. |
Re: I'm thinking Limp Mode...
Yes, when I turn it off the power is back and everything is fine.
Although I read through some of the threads and a few guys seemed like they were having the same issue until they went into limp mode permanently. Is their a DIY on changing the pump?
