Default I found a '05 SRT with 22K Miles

I just found a Arrow Blue 05 SRT out of eastern North Carolina. All my research says a little old lady of 55 bought it new and kept it untill this year. All the car fax info is good. The asking price is 18K and the body is in good shape except the rear bumper. Must have hit a sign post, Minor vertical dent, but I have found a new bumper for under 500. Are there any problems I need to look for this week end. I own an 04 already and will give that one to my wife (if shes good) . If you knows who's car this might be let me know the history, her intitals are BV

What would be a good selling price or should I just Jump on it!

$16.500 is the going price for a near perfect 05 with 20K miles.

Arado is correct - if your hard over for this crossfire then pay the price and get the car.

My son purchased his SRT-6 with 20K miles in near perfect condition 2 months ago for $16,500. I purchased my SRT-6 Roadster 8 months ago with 45K miles needing minor repairs and it came with a 1 year gold service contract for $14,000. Selling prices are all over the place, and there have been a lot of low milage crossfires that were evidently purchased by investors hiting the market the market over the last few months. If you can wait and negotiate there are deals to be had.

Pricing can be tricky, especially once the emotions factor into any purchase.

And when it comes to an SRT-6, the emotions usually run pretty high.

For a reference point, I bought my (Used) 2007 Roadster from a Chysler Dealer, it had 12K on the odometer, very, very clean interior and exterior, and it had the right color for me (SSB/Cedar), and I paid $18.5K. (And I did get a 90 day bumper-to-bumber from the Dealer).

Going with a private seller, you should have a some play on the price, but to be honest, a 2005 SRT-6, with 20K, and lets assume it's really clean, if you can chop some off of the asking price, it should be a good deal.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while, and you will enjoy the juice of the SRT-6, in the big scheme of things, getting a very big discount off of the current asking price may amount to a hill of beans in the long run.

Again pricing is very subjective, but if you both walk away from a deal feeling quite satisfied, then you can't ask for better than that...

I'm gona say that $18K is a bit steep for an SRT with bumper damage.
However, Kodebuster is correct, If you have the funds and can't wait, get it.

Prices have gone up on the low milage models but a decent coupe can be had under $16K most anytime. I have an extra one, sorta on the market. Not in an hurry to sell I am at $17.5K. It is near perfect at 37K miles.

Cars like are crossies are emotional purchases. Any attempt at being practical is a faux attempt to justify the satifaction of your ego. Silly econiomics.

So, forget practical. Go with your gut. There aren't many of these SRT's around. If you find one you like, it's price need only be what you are wiling to pay for the pleasure of ownership.

A $50K car that will respectably beat 99% of anything on the road for $18K. Drive it like you stole it, cause,,,,,,,,,,,,,you did.

All great perspectives.

Main question is do you really want the car? Seems to me $18 is a little higher in comparison than what some may be getting for similar mileage / shape cars. At minimum, if bumper needs replacing, let her know it's going to cost $500 just for the bumper. Will cost another couple hunder to paint etc. At least if you are going to end up spending additional money, and $18 is OK with you, the added costs of repair brings it to $19. I'd say subtle hints, have some sheets in your hand on comparatives for sale and recently sold to rifle through and then make an offer that sits well with you and her.

Good luck.

Do a little research to find some sort of starting place and to know what to look out for but always remember a good deal is one YOU are happy with. Someone will always know of or just got a better deal so find a car you like and if you are happy with the deal just smile and have a nice ride!

What you really really need to do, is offer Franc 17K out the door, and a free dinner in St. Louis for his Aero Blue SRT6. He isn't ever going to drive it....

NC, I would deliver it. With an ample supply of Blinkie Blinker fluid.
Yes I would drive it. We may well have two SRT's at the Dragon this fall.
No, I'm not getting tired of rowing gears. Just tired of pedaling hard to keep up with Crumpy. She has no mercy. Advair is more expensive than Viagra.

That and my roadster has a phobia about Nashville.

To the OP...a sports car deal will always depend on time of year in addition to condition of the car, demand, location, and competition. I bought my SSB SRT6 locally in April with 17,500 miles for $15,800. It happened to have the Nav radio. But, the car had the Conti OEM all season tires and really needed new tires. The rears were down to the wear bars. That was a roughly $1,000 expense that I took into account in the price. I happened to find a private sale with 70 year old guy who had just undergone open heart surgery. Dealer prices will always be higher than an equivalent car in a private sale.

In the height of the summer driving season I'd expect prices to be up a bit from early spring. Late fall will probably see prices drop again in the northeast but remain steady in the south. I don't think that price is ridiculously out of line if the car is in immaculate shape and doesn't need a bunch of maintenance.

Having said that, I'd jump on that PA car with 7,000 miles. QUICK!

Yhea everybody thanks for all the great input! We are now down to 15.5 for the car and the bumper is going to be about 600 delivered, painted and installed so I can live with that. All that is left to do is let the wife see it when she gets in this sunday. I think she is a go because she wants to have the red 04 for her self....looks like a two XF family soon.

Excellent. Sounds like you got a great deal.

Aero Blue is not only the prettiest, but faster than any other color.

Enjoy.
