What an srt6 might be worth later.
I was watching Mecum Auto Auction last week from California. There was a 1998 BMW Z3 M Edition Roadster with 7,800 miles that sold for $28,000. I would rather have the SRt6, so hold on to what you have!!!
While I don't doubt the sheer rarity of the SRT will help the price inflate I doubt we'll be seeing that kind of boom. The Z3 M Roadster is being propped up by the autocross market as the car is fast, light, has a huge aftermarket thanks to the M3 it shares motors with, looks a millions times better than the coupe, and most importantly came with a manual tranny. The SRT's rarity alone makes it lose viability for any form of racing demand increases.
Also Mecum is weird at times. I've watched a authentic fully restored 1974 Z28 go for $26,000 while a replica of the same car went for $34,000 and this was within a few minutes of each other. Also was the car a euro spec or US spec? There's a high demand for the much faster euro model which could easily drive up the price.

It takes much more than rarity to makea car valuable toenthusiasts and collectors.
A 1982 Mark Cross Lebaron Convertaible is rare. But you can ususaly pick one up for under $2,000 any day of the week. Same with the later model Maserati version of the same K car.
In 20 years or so the SRT Crossfire may command a higher price than a S2, 350Z or a Miata of the same vintage but there just hasn't been that many enthusiasts to inflame long term interest.
Buy one for it's current, intrinsic value and drive it like a rented mule. The only way to truely get your money's worth. Take what is left in your wallet over a higher priced Benz and double it.
It is easy. Just fold the bills in half and put them back in your wallet.
