SRT6 on craigslist in Houston
I came across this SRT6 on craigslist. I'm not sure if this is a member or not. The picture looks good. It says $10k
CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE SRT-6
CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE SRT-6
04 Crossfire roadster ?
Is it really an SRT6? pictures look like it is, unless he doesn't know what he's got ? or salvage title or something, no mileage given ? .........seems too good to be true
I may e-mail him and ask for Vin, and mileage ........

I called and talked to the guy. I have been looking to upgrade from my 05' Crossfire N/A to an SRT6 for a while now if I come across a good deal (and it has to be a roadster).
He said that he is selling his 20 year old neice's car for her cuz her daddy just bought her a new BMW. She drove this car for about a year and it currently has about 90,000 miles on it.
He did confirm that it is an SRT6 and he said it was in pretty good condition.
90,000 miles with no warranty is not something I am prepared to do right now, so you guys go get it if you want.

Get the VIN number and run a CARFAX. Check for Salvage titlle, get mileage and owner count. Have someone in Houston check it out like Magredvet. At least he left a phone number. Make sure he is the verifiable titled owner with in-hand title... Not with his ex-wife, or uncle, or some other BS. Craigslist scams are prevalent when you see under-priced vehicles. First you hear life stories, then the title is in "some other spot".... Excuses, explanations, etc. I've seen a picture of this car somewhere else. Just can't remember where. Go see it if possible for anyone out of the Houston area. If he seems OK on the phone, and gives out the VIN, double check the VIN number by searching for it on Ebay for a prior sale.

Rmaier, let me try and can call him, get the Vin, make sure he has the title etc, then I have no problem going to look at it for you, once he has proven it is legit. I am just a little suspicious, as even Carmax would probably give him more than $10000, plus he advertised it as an 04, if he had the title I'm sure he would know it was an 05 .........anyway let me call him later on today. I'll keep you informed...........
Just called Mike, about the car, it has 90,000 miles, and has a 'reconstructed' title, whatever that means, he says it was stolen recovered.
He is getting me the vin number, so I'll Pm you that, and you can run a carfax, then let me know if you are still interested in it, and I can arrange to see it.

In which case, $10,000 or near it is NOT a good deal IMO... judging by seeing cars with clear titles and 40k miles going for around $13 or 14k... I'd rather fork over 3 to 4 more thousand and get a non wrecked/stolen car with half the miles.
Well, 'Mike' promised me the vin number on Friday, and as yet, he still hasn't sent it, so I'm guessing there's even more to hide, and he doesn't want anyone running a Carfax. I'd steer clear of this one I think.
'judging by seeing cars with clear titles and 40k miles going for around $13 or 14k'
When you find those SRT6 convertibles for $13K with 40000 miles give me a shout, and I'll buy another one ....
You might find a coupe for that money, but the cheapest reasonable vert that I know of recently was TerryR's, but that was in excess of $16k

The voice of reason .........and well said....this 1 seems too good to be true and obviously is just that. Thanks for looking into this for me Magredvet. Too bad people try to pull a scam but if you look close enough it will usually come out.
If he is not providing the VIN or isn't letting a carfax be run then he surly won't let you check it too closly. If you were able to look at it and get the VIN directly from the car then that would be super.
