interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
Ive been lurking around for a bit and thinking on and off about getting a SRT6 convertible for a fun weekend driver...i already own a 2011 Challenger SRT8 and wouldnt mind a 2 seater to play with.
im finding prices on SRT6's that seem like a real bargain...im thinking they are getting to the bottom of their depreciation and in a couple of years will start to rise... im shocked at the boring colors the SRT6 came in....ill probably look into the blue since it seems the most unusual.......its shocking there isnt a red or Plum crazy purple or something more exciting one thing that strikes me is the high mileage these cars all seem to have...they were all drivers..its hard to find one w/ low mileage...not many must have been bought for the purpose of being a 'special' weekend car...50,000 miles seems to be very common......with my Challenger there's tons of them with a couple of thousand miles on them...finding a 2 year old car with 4,000 miles isnt that tough.... im looking for something in the 20,000 mile range anything i need to know? best places to keep an eye on for locating one? im in WI and willing to drive 200 miles |
Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
Hello, these cars are, as you said, a great bargain. That is why I too am looking for one to park next to my coupe. The reason these cars seem to have high mileage is because they are a blast to drive; speed, comfort and style in one packag. To find a 6 year old car with 20K miles will be difficult, thats less than 4K a year. There is a Yellow 'SRT' in the classifieds section on this forum. The price might frighten you though.:D (It was converted to a SRT) As for the best places to look for one; the usuals: ebay-I've seen a few recently that were bargains. Also keep an eye on the classifieds here. The good thing about this is if one of the regular forum members has to sell, there is a 'paper trail' of the car here in the forums. You can search their posts and see whaat issues, if any, they've had.
Good luck... |
Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
Your location doesn't help you. Based on resale locations WI wasn't exactly a hotbed of Crossfire SRT-6 deliveries when new. Most SRT-6 for sale tend to be in coastal states, not as many available in the mid-west. A few options for you:

Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
I bought my SRT6 and my son's 2007 coupe in the Chicago suburbs. They show up for sale in that area occasionally. It's getting harder and harder to find low mileage roadsters since so few were made and they are, indeed, a blast to drive. I am idly looking for a graphite roadster, although I am not sure where I will store it. My garage is already full in the winter. Wait, I can slide three cars into a two-bay with a floorjack. Let me know if you come across a graphite roadster. Mileage not all that important if it's in good shape.

Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
im looking for one in the teens with low miles....im ok with 20,000-25,000
i think $18,000 for one w/ 50,000 miles is a bit much.... what were SRT-6 convertibles when they were new in 2005??? i checked Carmax....nothing jumped out at me ill keep poking around weekly....something will come up eventually....its more for the Wife anyways....the SRT part is for me though (she'd be happy with the normal version) |
Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
$50,00 when new. I have 21k miles on mine bought it in 2006 with 275 miles on it for 32K. I wouldn't sell it for less than $40K now. So I suppose i'll be keeping her. Rare car. Turns heads like carzxy.

Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
I think the coupe was about $47 and the roadster $50-52, list. I recall considering one when I was looking at my roadster, but could not justify the almost $10k premium for the SRT6 package, plus I really wanted a convertible with a stick. I ended paying $37327 for my roadster, with a partner discount (I worked for IBM at the time) and a couple rebates. Never bothered me that others went cheaper a couple years later -- I bought it exactly as I wanted it. And I feel I received a good deal on my SRT6, $21k with 8500 miles in Jan 2008.

Re: interested in buying a SRT6 convertible
Checked out www.cars.com and found a total of 32 SRT's up for grabs in US of A.
Most were Coupes, but there were a few Verts at this link: Used Chrysler Crossfire in 11358 - Cars.com Here's a Black SRT Vert from a Private Seller that caught my eye, cause I thought it was relatively cheap with decent mileage: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, $8,125 - Cars.com Good hunting... |
