Default Any thoughts on this vehicle for sale?

I happened upon this vehicle for sale on the web. I couldn't find that it had been queried in any other post. I did see that it had a close encounter with a guard rail but also looks like it was effectively (cosmetically) repaired.

Before I make the 100 mile trip to see it, can anyone offer their thoughts on it?

+1 for Alaxfire.

Also, I find it funny that the "Vehicle Condition" column states "No known accidents" and "No known body work" when it clearly states that it hit a guardrail in the CarFax. I would think that constitutes as an accident and it most likely involved body work. I'm sure this is a "copy and paste" condition report that the dealer puts on all of their cars, but it makes me wonder how well the cars are really checked over when I see this kind of thing. It would be worth it to me to drive 100 miles to look at it because the price is definitely right. But, like Alaxfire stated, check for water damage.

Good luck!!

From the carfax report it looks like the car has been in the Pottstown/Gilbertville/Boyertown area for some time. I think that was far enough away from the flooding not to be a major concern. Also, looking back over the accident history it appears that the front end damage happened almost 7 years ago. I think any irregularities would have been sorted out by now.

I would call them first and ask about the "no accidents" and get all the xtra's they are going to toss in there......like dealer prep handling etc......that way you get the bottom line price before you make the trip. Stealerships always pad the listed price and I always try to drive some of that padding down so it is close to the price listed.

Don't dismiss "flood damage" too quickly. To have water damage, the car doesn't have to be submerged - especially an SRT. This car hit the dealer inventory right about the same time Sandy hit (10/31). And SRTs have that leaking problem around the rear wing, so if that car sat outside during all the rain, the components in the rear wells may be compromised. Not trying to knock the car, but just trying to make sure all bases are covered.

I'd definitely be checking the trunk area as well as reading up on "things to look for" in the SRT threads.

My best chance to check it out will be Sunday. If I miss that I don't see another for a few weeks.

The price looks great. When is the last time you saw a dealer selling a great deal. Fair maybe. Great. Ain't gonna happen.

Something is seriously wrong here in my opinion. Make that "In my opinion, something is seriously wrong here."

Why not find one that hasn't had a guardrail contact?

True. It looks like it was wrecked in a time when parts were still available though. As long as there's no Bondo it's not a deal breaker for me.

I don't see this as a "great deal" either but it sure is in my price range seeing how I also need to purchase a truck in the near future. The prices on these cars drop about this time of year and have been dropping regardless. There's another I'd like to look at located at a dealership in Baltimore owned by a (former) member Maryland Dave.

I do appreciate the feedback I'm getting. It's giving me things to think about.

Woody, I wouldn't say you were "dull." A little blurry around the edges, but not dull!

Might just be the lighting - looks like the pics were taken in a room with fluorescent lighting.

However, one thing does look odd to me - in picture 18, it looks like the mirror adjustment switch is pointing down (back) instead of up (forward). Could the **** be on wrong or the has the switch itself been stripped or installed incorrectly? Just odd to me.

I contacted the dealership with a list of questions about the car. I received a short reply stating that it was sold.

It's probably for the better. This SRT6 had frame damage serious enough it was disclosed at auction so hopefully whoever bought it, had all the facts and didn't get taken for a ride. I hit a deer with my first Crossfire resulting in the frame getting severely tweaked. Even after repeated attampts to straighten everything out by multiple repair facilities, a multitude of alignment issues and lots of other little things that really added up over the course of a year, the insurance company finally accepted that they needed to total the car.
