i can't seem to find the Bosch Crank Position Sensor in the UK, but will ring Mercedes tomorrow and see what they have.
Just purchased one from Amazon.com, Bosch 0 261 210 170 for 38+ came to just over $40, this was just for insurance. Mine is still ok but I wanted to be prepared. Also outfitting a small tool kit that will allow me to make a number ofsmall on road repairs.

That's exactly what I did, although I bought mine from Autohaus in Arizona. About the same price and most definitely Bosch. My small tool kit contents was culled from the many great members of this forum. Thanks again everyone!

Hi y'all,

My hubby is not a mechanic, so I have to take my Crossie in for maintenance. That scares me!! There is one shop in the town where I live that might be ok since they work on Mercedes as well as other imports. What things should they be aware of since this is a relatively rare car? I know it takes special oil in the engine and tranny? What things should be checked? As well....on my dash I don't see where the mileage is for keeping track of the next maintenance. I've only had my baby for a few weeks, still getting used to her. Love her to pieces!! She still has the original Made In Germany tires!!! Thanks....

Oops, forgot to mention my Crossie has 37,000 KM (so around 20,000 miles)...when I bought it there was a small leak on the skid plate that covers everything...said it was from the tranny and was typical for Mercedes...they fixed it b4 I bought it....how do you check for leaks if you can't see them because of the solid skid plate? Thanks!

The FSS tells you when you need an oil change. You need an owner's manual, do you have one?
Because you can download them on this site.

You want to use Mobil 1 0W40 and FLEECE oil filter elements. If you have a shop that knows Mercedes, you are probably ok. Just stay the hell away from Chrysler dealers, your car is not one of their products. I use a local shop for a lot of little stuff and Buckhead Imports in Atlanta for anything challenging. I do all my own simple maintenance at home (oil changes, etc.) - but if I had to go somewhere, it would be a local MB-servicing shop.

If you have a leak, that cover will collect the leak - you'll know. The auto transmissions, I think ALL of them, leaked at first. Even my first one did.
As far as I know, once fixed, it stays fixed - MB missed something at the plant, I guess.

If the skid plate is the plactic part that covers the bottom of engine, many have removed and not put back, allows easier access and if fluids leak you may not every see it. I do not think the trans repair needed the cover removed, not when mine was done,

When i did remove my cover, there was oil in it from a leak around oil sending unit, but cover did not allow oil to drip onto pavement, i left it off i want to be aware of any leaks
