What's a used S/C worth

I have a line on a used Supercharger from an SRT6. Was a dealer take off. Has a small ding in the pulley. Guy says it works fine. Was going to buy it as a spare. Wants me to make an offer. What do you guys think?

I'd like to know too. I have one (with the same damage) that a friend wanted to get rid of. It is our spare for our 2 srt's.

I have seen them on ebay from 300-1000. Up to you, but I would offer him 200 and see how he responds. It's no use to him...

Be good to have a history on it...?
Miles/prev. owner (style).
They're not as common as the SL55 vesions.

If it doesn't have a history....price in new bearings and touch up (Port?).
Otherwise if you do install as is, it'll be a suck it and see at 5,000+ rpm.

I was told it was taken off a low milage car about four years ago. Sounds like the idler pulley let go and hit the pulley. No other damage. Dealer changed out the whole unit. He wanted big money for it a few months ago. Now he's down to a grand. I think $200 will insult him.

He said to make an offer - if he is insulted by your offer, that's on him - not you. If he wants a grand, then he should have said it. Any item for sale is only worth what the buyer will pay for it. I'm not positive, but I would think that our super chargers are limited to what engine they would fit, so that limits his audience of buyers. If paying him more money to make him feel better is worth it to you, then there are a lot of sellers on here that would love to make a deal with you ;) The S/C is 8+ years old and you have no idea how abused it was from the previous owners. Although it's rare for the chargers to go belly up, you are still taking all the risk, so remember that when you make your offer.

Good luck - RL

I have insulted a lot of people in my day. Give me his name and I will make him the offer. Then ask how he came about it since it was a warranty item at the dealership and should have been destroyed. Then again, maybe that is old retired cop in me is coming out. It wouldn't be worth more than 200 bucks to me....they are out there. There isn't anything wrong with it other than the pulley. It's no use to anyone as these will run a million miles. Even modded. I may pick up a used one someday just to polish out for esthetics...... Good luck whatever you do, but you asked...

looking at the pully damage I thing it may have lost a rivet and the dog bone linkage. That's what happened to my spare.

Thats what it looks like to me too. Need to find a cheap broken pulley for parts and have it reriveted. Looks like pulley is fine. Just need the clutch plate and the dog bone springs. I've been dancing with this guy all day. Looks like $650 is the number. Going to look at it tomorrow. Hope the Christmas Bonus comes thru.

At $650 you're throwing good money away. Be patient and you'll find one with a good pulley for the same price or less.

Maybe if he sees green the day before Christmas, he'll change his tune. Also need to see condition in person.

I am selling my old S/C on ebay.
