Crossfire rough idle

hey guys new member here. My srt6 has a terrible rough idle that used to be infrequent but has gotten worse. It started about a year ago, I would drive down the highway and it would go into a low power mode, and start to roughly idle. Usually takes about 30 minutes to restart. It’s gotten worse lately.

So so far I’ve changed the park plugs, the coil packs, had a shop check for a vacuum leak, I’ve changed the crankshaft position sensor.

Its still rough idle/low power mode upon start. I’m feeling beyond frustrated.

Is your car stock or modified? Check the Y coupler connected to the Throttle Body, could be the TB itself.

Welcome to the forum.

Hey Guys,

I'm having a similar problem, engine running rough at idle (stock Crossfire Coupe 2005, no modifications). We replaced the Crankshaft sensor (actually turned out to be a bad/corroded wire), about a month ago. We had the throttle body cleaned about 5 years ago. Spark plugs have never been changed. We have about 175,000 KM on the car. Any thoughts?

Thanks ...

Phil,

from doing some quick searches the plugs on the crossfires are recommended to be changed out every 10 years or 100k. Considering that the newest crossfire is now 10 years old if you have never changed plugs and you are the original owner they probably are due to be changed. My .02 worth.

Hey Dylan

Thanks for the advise. Yes, they have never been changed.

If you still have it after putting in the new plugs and wires try this. Spray clean the throttle body (I would recommend every 6-12 months). Check for any pending codes and erase.. You might see MAP, but that is usually triggered by MAF. Disconnect battery for 5 minutes.
Reconnect battery and blip throttle when you start it each time. This would always fix my first SRT-6 for another 6-12 months.
