Computer chips for boosting performance.

I am considering purchasing an aftermarket computer chip to boost the horsepower of my SRT6.

Do these work?

Are they worth the price? I would not mind getting an extra 30 horsepower or so for $100 to $200.

Can these damage the engine, engine components or the smog system?

Which one in specific works the best?

;) All the years I've been on the site, these do not work as advertised. Don't think they damage the engine. Save your monies for a eurocharged tune, that'll be the best tune you can give the car short of a dyno tune with them modifying the tune as performance is monitored. Good luck! ;)

How is that done? Thanks

Go to the eurocharged web site for info.

I am in Reno, Nevada.

There are no Eurocharged shops near me or anywhere out West. Any other ideas for boosting horsepower?

Thanks

I suggest you call and speak to them. Don't waste your money on a chip.

I can produce ANY chip you want!
I charge $45 per horsepower, but my HP does not show on a dyno, but you will FEEL the difference.

My chips plug into the cigarette lighter - so anyone can do it. They communicate with the ECU via syncronaus cereal data steams on the battery feed - I am gonna patent this design reel soon and

when I do, the price is gonna go up.

almost any tune shop will ship you a cable then e mail you a tune to match your mods , and you use a laptop and install the tune cost is around 600,, yes six hundred dollars they work about 80% of a dyno tune. jim

Ok, after reading a few other related threads as well as mine, I'm convinced the chips are snake oil and/or they can damage the engine by advancing the timing causing predetonation.

Lol chips? What is this 2001? No hate. Just thought it was funny. Go with the eurocharged tune. Didn’t really feel the power increase of my 65mm pulley until I got the tune.

Hey Mark, you ain't got nuttin ! My chip is in a self contained module that you just have to get close to the PCM, it then senses it's aura and bonds with it using heterocyclitacal radio waves. Once the session is over ( light turns green ), you can then use it on any other car. Mine too supplies stealth HP, not measurable on a dyno.

They can't even do that. Each "chip" would have to somehow overwrite hard coded eeprom data for timing.

This sounds like you may have to change the canutin valve and recalibrate the flutinary rod. Lot of work!

I remember back in the day it was a Canughter valve, and the fluctionary flow level.

tamato, tamatoe, the heck with that I want tomater.

I have two Sprint Boosters for a SRT-6 used for one hour. Squirrel Crusher

Re: Computer chips for boosting performance.

Sprint boosters improve the throttle response a bit/ power can be had with intake mods without stress to the motor, better breathing. Contact ROB at Needswings for a whole raft of items... :oWoody
