Talking Rear axle replacement - part= 89.98$

My passenger rear axle was slinging grease from somewhere so I decided to get a set of CV boots. NOT GONNA HAPPEN !!! You can get the inner one but the outer is n/a.

Did research and found fitz all boots but not sure and its got 28,000 miles on it, not gonna do the work for an old part. Chucked it and more research, found that EBAY has a supplier for our axle, ordered one up and after carlisle trip just finished installing it.

Size and all, fits , no sweat, have to wait for the rain to stop to drive it. Went in easy, golly there is a lot to take off for installation............ but it worked for me.

SO if you have axle issues, heres an answer. Its by carid and is 0.100 INCHES THICKER=STRONGER. My axle was 0.975" and the new one is 1.077" thick, great.

Please note, the boot has more folds and looks like a better boot to me, less stress. I have not been able to see a hole in my old boot but the grease slinging line was lined up on the wheel inner surface in line with the compression clamp on the outer edge of the outer boot.

SO FYI, and I hope it saves you lots of effort and sweat finding one, the price is reasonable to me, so color me happy, Enjoy.

Jim, please remember that the axle I described is new and has new boots. Most people do not have all the power to need the bigger axle and might need the new cv boots. As it is 1/10" thicker Id call it an upgrade. Taaa Daaa

For my $$ it was a find as the factory parts are over $300 and in very limited supply.

Enjoy, Woody

Looks like a good buy, hopefully the steel is at least the same quality as the OEM ones or the .1" difference in diameter will count for naught.

I just discovered a slit in the passenger inner boot on my rear axel..... Oh bother, they don't ship to P.R.
I'll have to figure out way around it.

You could have another member ship it to you, there is some weight but that would make it happen. You say they dont ship it to PR, what if it is purchased by a us stateside citizen and shipped to a PR address?? ASK. Just thinking. Woody

My brother can help me out if necessary. I googled the part No. and I can get it through O'Reilly Auto Parts but I didn't see a price. Where there's a will, there's a way.
