What is everyone's favorite wax?

What brand wax does everyone use here? I have heard some really good things about Zaino Brothers wax, but have never used it before. I am going to buy some once I get my Crossfire. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I have tried them all and Zaino seems to be the best!Ive used Zaino on my classic corvettes and muscle cars and my truck with great results.Their tire dressing is great too.

the 3m polish and wax is good from what i hear, i used the rubbing compound on my car and cleared up alot of swirl marks.. zaino is alot of cash... p21s is good stuff also.. don't really think u can go wrong, with anything name brand.. its not like your detailing a classic..

later..

Zaino is my protection of choice. My son uses it on his 02 Firehawk & 68 Firebird and now it's on my Crossfire. It's more than just a polish - it protects the paint from most anything. Bird-doo just slides off, road tar wipes right off. Once you get 3-4 coats of Z2 on you're done. Just wash with their carwash & spray with their detail spray for the next few years. It's a little costly up front but the protection and ease of maintenance makes up for that IMHO.

Carnuaba or Synthetic waxes? I have been using several layers of synthetic waxes or sealants, like Zaino, Klasse, etc. as a protective base and topping with a layerable carnuaba, like P21S or S100, to get a deep wet shine. It all depends on the look you want. Paint prep is the key to extracting the maximum possible shine from your paint and use whatever wax/sealant/glaze/or polish you decide on to protect the paint and add shine and depth. Using a swirl mark remover and/or paint cleanser, clay bar are part of the paint prep process. I also use ClearKote's QuikShine as my quick detailer of choice. I find it leaves the surface even slicker and easier to clean than Zaino's Z-6. Zaino Z-2 or Z-5 and P21S or S100 wax will not stain your trim and are relative easy to apply and buff off. Plenty of excellent waxes or sealants out there. You may want to go to the Autopia Forum if you want to go into car detailing in more depth.

Zaino has been by far the number one choice for the guys on my 300M club who are zany about the shine on their M, and also those who post on the Edmunds 300M board. I have never gotten around to using it because I put a 6"/1"racing stripes on the passenger side and also pin stripes on my M. I contacted Sal at Zaino and he told me that the striping material would absorb some of the product so I would have to be careful how I applied it. I didn't have the patience to try. So I just don't apply anything except I choose the wax cycle at the no touch car wash every so often. Others on my sites like Zymol. My M is 5 yrs old and the paint still looks superb in Platinum. If they did as good on the Crossfire paint you may need little or nothing.

Do any of you have experience with RejeX from Corrosion Technlogies?

Car and Driver liked it but could just be a plug.

I guess I'm behind the times. I still use Meguiar's.

FlyGirl Oct 23, 2003 09:43 AM

I know I'm behind on this conversation, but I'll tell you what I use. I'm sure someone has heard of Dri Wash & Guard? Or better known as Waterless Car Wash. This stuff is freakin' awesome & I'll never use anything else on my car. And now they have a new formula for cars made after 2000. It goes on so easy, wipes off even easier and your car looks like glass. You can use it with a buffer, comes out even better, and you don't have all that dried white crud because it comes out in a thin mist. I guarantee you'll love it, let me know if you've tried it.

Still Old School

I guess I'm just from the Old School :P . I've built and owned a few show quality cars and I've always had great results with all of the "Mother's" car care products.

"Zymol Italia"...
We had to order it...
Use it on our Ferrari...Best stuff on earth...
when the X-Fire needs to be waxed I will definitely use it!

texex91 Nov 19, 2003 09:21 AM

ZAINO - the best there is period. Kusheen will love me for that, but it's so true. The liqid shine and deep gloss/protection is incredible--I'm addicted to it (or at least my Crossfire is)...

WesMichaels Nov 19, 2003 09:23 AM

With my Vetts and now the Crossfire I am winning "Show and Shines" with "Mothers". I'll stick with it. :) If I start losing because of the shine I'll change.

Try Nu-finish liquid car wax. You'll never go back to the expensive harde to apply and rub off fancy-schamcy stuff on the market. I have use Nu-finish for over 20 years on all my cars. I use it on my Crossfire, S-420 Mercedes, Honda Pilot and Rolls Royce. It is the best!

I've had good luck with Zymol (easy on, easy off). Once or twice a week I'll go over the X-Fire with Mequire's Quick Detailer. It works for me living in the desert southwest and not driving the car when it does rain.

Just call it a "creampuff"... ;-) ;-) ;-)

BTW: I've never seen ZAINO... where can you find it?

AZ Outlaws Jan 9, 2004 05:24 PM

Hey Gang,

I've had #2815 one month today!!! :D :D :D

It was in the high 70's here this afternoon, so what better time to put the first coat of Zymol on her. 8) 8) 8)

Okay, so you'll have the last laugh this summer when it's 115 down here.

For those of you who remember my posts on 1st gear popping out of gear... the dealer worked on it a week ago, so far so good. My fingers are crossed. Also got the new radio. All is well!!!

In Calgary, Alberta, the choice of car waxes seems to be limited for the Sunday do it your selfers. Turtle, Mother's, Zymol, Mcquire's, etc.

I haven't waxed the car yet, nor have I driven the car. I want to wax it before the first outing in the next 3 weeks.

My car is black. I just bought a product called ZYMOL because it repairs swirl marks which appears to be a common complaint of those waxing black vehicles.

My question is , Which is better, Zymol , Mother's or Mcquires for a black car?

andrew Mar 1, 2004 04:39 PM

zymol concours

zymol concours...big bucks but worth every dollar.

lmf101 Mar 1, 2004 05:06 PM

Zaino Bros or Zymol - I ordered the Zaino last week, seems to be the most widely promoted product on this forum and I want to give it a go. I have been using a product called Liquid Glass that I was very pleased with, but I am willing to try something new. I will not be home for two more weeks - I'll post my opinion on Zaino after I have given her a new shine.
