Default Please don't!

Ok, three women in my life like to wipe dust/dirt off my black XF with their hand. As we ALL know, this will leave scratches in the paint. Now, all three of these women will take their car through a car wash, maybe 3-4 times a year, tops. I have asked them, ( in the nicest way possible) to please stop doing that. They all give me the same look. The. "I can't believe you're so fussy about your car" look. Any suggestions?

Tell them you are fussy about your car and don't wipe the dirt off with your hand unless you plan on walking home.

Reach inside the front wheel and get a good load of brake dust, then gingerly caress their face and say "Hey look ! I found some more dust !"

I just have to comment that either my women are smarter or came better trained out of the box.

Or they're scared. (Yeah-right!)

I am reminded of the fools who think it funny to write "wash Me" in the dust with their fingers.

They, ( Wife, Mother, Sister ) think they're doing me a favor by wiping some dust off. I can see the scratches right away, they can't.

So far, I like the potty idea.

Hand them a bucket of hot soapy water with rags and the hose and teach them how to properly remove the dust.

Given the disrespect thay have already shown, i wouldn't let them near the car with any implements.

That is why you'd need to teach them..........if you make it difficult enough or get them to understand the situation maybe they'd leave the car alone or even more remote of a possibility they would take better care of their own property.

Buy a car cover and keep it under wraps so they cannot see it. Out of site out of mind. Damn shame to cover such a nice piece of automotive art tho

Keep a spray bottle with car soap/water in it handy at all times... When said female tries to apply hand to dirt, perform parkour and intervene with water where their hand is about to go.

Excuse me but we are talking about 21st century WOMEN here. What century are you in.

The spray bottle would be effective, but not in that way. I have a bottle of spray water for the cat. Whenever he does some behaviour of which I do not approve, I sray him in the face with it.

I would suggest this to be a more effective trainng methodology.

Let me get this straight, you are dealing with three women, and your big issue is scratches in the paint?

Could be worse... Could be keys in the paint!

How in the heck did they get a hand on the Crossfire?!?!? Who was the idiot that let them out of the kitchen where they belong?

My black Crossfire required washing and dusting far too often, I solved it by getting an Aero Blue one. Now I wash it maybe three/four times a year and I have clayed and polished it only once and that was two years ago when I got it.
The California duster is collecting dust on the shelf, I have never used it since I got rid of the black car. I might get tossed from the forum for admitting this but ..........

I say keep the women and change the car.
