Default Repainted SRT-6 ... now what

So after dropping big bucks on a paint job, now what is the best steps? I have waxed, used dual bucket washing style, When is it good to ceramic coat the beast? I really like having a non swirled black car.

I wouldn't ceramic coat it until the paint has cured 100%. You might check with whoever painted it or made the paint for their input?

~ Wow looks great! The best quick detailer to use after washing for maintaining is V07 Hybrid Spray / Chemical Guys. An amazing product for black cars and keeping them swirl-free while using a new microfiber towel. As for wax... My favorite is Zymol Concours (but pricey).

Thanks Andrew, I had always used the Maguire Quick detail spray, most likely got it at wally world. I try to keep my microfiber towels clean and freshly washed but I believe they have caused a few scratches already. I will also try the Zymol wax, you only live once

While you’re waiting for your go faster stickers
why not invest in a nice set of valve stem caps

nice green ones you have on there now
It’s like you gave your car a bath and then put on day old shorts

I suppose they work but a new set would look a lot better

lots available on eBay

I guess the green caps mean the tires are filled with nitrogen, unless it was free I would not waste my money on nitrogen. It cuts down on oxygen and moisture, but the normal air we breath is 88% nitrogen anyway.
Some garages say a free top up of air when they do it and charge you, but who wants to run their tires for miles just to get to the garage.
Get your air from a good compressor with a moisture trap in the system.

This is always a good topic for varying views.

The green caps probably mean they are the type that has a readout of the PSI.
Green is OK, they turn red on low pressure.

The comments I’m making below are my own opinion and my approach to my ride

Who really cares about what it’s filled with
They green caps don’t do the car justice 99% of the people out there haven’t got a clue what it’s filled with cause they don’t know, can’t see and don’t care

what they can see are green caps on a freshly painted car.

if the intent is to have people look at the caps, then check that box mission accomplished

if you want them to admire the entire car then make it all look great as a complete package

my thoughts only. I had the same caps on my wheels when I received them and once I had them refinished, the green beans where the first thing to go

To all forum members, Have an amazing day

yeah . .this is getting good . . LoL. wait. I am the starter of the thread. well I have to admit, the only reason I have green caps is the fact that I had 4 of them! really never thought about it much but they must of been mismatched when I got the car. I will dig up 4 or another color , maybe black if I can find them. I really was not sure how to treat a newly painted car and sure dont want scratches if I dont have to. Andrew piped in with some advise on some products to try and now that Maguire's has gotten so costly I may go that route. Now . . .where did I put those skull caps from walmart?

Hi,
Can you please let us know where you sent the center caps and side stakes off to get refurbished. I also am looking for some where to send my SRT rims off to to get pollished. Mine have a few scuffs and I would like a reputable place to send them.

Are you not supposed to wait a few weeks before clay/wax a new paint job? BTW she looks GORGEOUS!

Yes, Its been over 6 months and its not perfect, really needs a day of wet sanding, polishing but it does look better than it did with the clearcoat peeling. The car needed some love which is why I only paid 5k but I need to tally up the funds I have spent and make sure I am not upside down on the car. She no garage queen with 125k miles but everything works except the seat heaters. Its time to stop spending and start enjoying which is what I plan on doing. I dont think I will head out to the west coast but running the roads around here its a cool car.

For the Gentleman asking about the refurbing of the side stakes, etc I do most of the little things like that myself. I am down to putting the chrome tape on the side stakes after I installed the chrome door handle overlays on today. Its hard to beat chrome and black and I had picked up the AMG rims a few months back so I put some tires on them, bought the chrome grill for 45 bucks off flea bay and rolling with that look for the summer. I have new tires on the stock rims put up with the other stuff I took off so it can go back to stock in no time at all. Thanks for the kind words, I could of never pulled it off without the members of this forum, Next I am loading up and will be headed to the lake to get that houseboat whipped into shape! Remember what they say . ..
Chrome will get you home!

Thanks, I was able to clay bar the car and waxed it using NX Maguires wax that I had always wanted to use but just found it . on sale. It really puts a slick shine on the car and its starting to look good. Got my wheels spacers installed and went out to bed in my PowerStop pads and rotors but cut the trip short due to a sticky caliper so I will pull the right front off and check it out. I also got my side stakes chromed ( sorta) and with the rims, door handles the stakes make it look like a real sports car. I will get some pics between the rain someday this week. My goal is to go to the drag races in two weekends and see what she will do as a baseline and start tuning.
