Default SL intake? What parts?

Hey fellas I have been reading the forums and noticed a few members here and there that have the "sl55 intake" Now I was thinking what parts does this really consist of? And some people over on the mb forums say that it fits the slk, but would everything fit into the crossfire? And if it does will it require any modification... I also hear of a part called splitter? What exactly is this?

Here are the parts that I have in mind, what else will I still require from the following?:

1130941682 $7.00 Hose Inlet #1
1130941782 $6.75 Hose Inlet #2
1130900601 $98.00 Airbox #1
1130900501 $98.00 Airbox #2
1130940103 $44.00 Y-Connector
1130942382 $7.00 Hose
1130942482 $7.00 Hose
1130100967 $67.00 SL55 front engine cover

I don't think it fits SLKs?

I know C32 members retro a SL airbox. But a C32 air box does not fit on the M112 (320) motor, I tried that with my car. And the SLK320 has the same.

I'm not sure about fitting it in the R171 SLK350/280/55amg.

But if its done on a crossfire, it might be possible for my c320 to fit a sl air box!?

The Crossfire is on a R170, not a R171 (wish it was) so if it works on a C32 it should work on a SRT-6 seeing as it's the same motor. There might be some slight modification when it comes to the tubing but the Y-connector and air box should fit.

I would first look at a C32 comparison picture with an SRT-6 to see if there's anything missing or placed differently before taking the plunge into buyin all the stuff.

DEF. compare the c32amg and srt-6.

so that means, i can use a crossfire air box!? lol.

ima do some measurements, filter sizes, volume that air can travel, etc compare it to the c320 one. if its a bigger filter more volume, i might buy a crossfire air box and smack that on and see how things work.

btw. i am just about $200 - $300 short on the renntech one. it will be in my car soon. by spring lol. also, i'm having a rice shop, custom tubing (no air box) with my existing "cold air intake" setup. this cone is going to be sitting low. towards the fog lights. and i'm gonna see how this works. i have to go back to the shop sometime this week/next week.

Wait so renntech has an intake + air box set up for us?
On other note I saw member on this forum previously "respdoc" i think it was who had what he called "sl55 intake" not sure of what exactly it consisted of but he also said that it was not the air box he had. Also why would you want the crossfire air box is it not the same thing as what you have? I am not technical advanced I would not be able to tell if it fits just by looking at it. I guess my best bet is to take this question to evosport as they sell "sl55 intakes".

Well, I DID email evosport about the SL splitter, its slightly modified to fit the C32 amg, but does not fit C320 m112 motors (the crossfire one also).

The air box on the crossfire looks DIFF from the MB one.

Renntech HAD a carbon fiber air box for M112 motors but probably have no more. I know of one local dealer that can probably get me ONE. and I think I might get that.

We're gonna have a direct-fit aluminum intake plenum for the C32/SRT-6 folks pretty soon - just stay tight.

My friend is also planning to have some crossfire air box probably by next month. I am still waiting for a go signal from him.

Are you sure we can use SL55 front engine cover on c32 AMG? if Sl air intake is installed?

rasim the sl55 center piece will NOT work on the 32 without major modding. the oil filler cap is in the wrong loction for the center piece and the 32 center piece has the mounting tabs in the wrong place. it can be done but it doesnt look that great and is easier left off. the sl55 intake and boxes are a simple mod without the center piece. i tried it on my 32 and didnt like the looks at all. definately looked hacked. sold the whole setup and looking for a dual cai for the future
