I do have all the parts, here, in Buffalo, in the mail or on a Purolator truck. JIT(FTT), just in time for the tune.
I'm actually very good at planning and micro managing, by the time I have proved to myself I could do a project I forget about it and move on to the next. Just ask my wife, I planned for a big family, had one child and then moved on to the next project. It saves money and leaves lots of time for more planning.
Around the house I'm a virtual handyman.
My motto, how hard can it be?
As for the clubbin', there weren't too many seals on the ice this year, so we shot a few polar bears.

Thanks for all the info, I have started my part search. Do you know if the v8 tubes are longer? I found a complete setup on the bay but it has V8 front cover and tubes. Figure the tubes will be usable but only the cover pieces have part# listed.
Also what would you consider a good price?
Was thinking ~150 for the cover and tubes, and the same for TB and larger MAF housing would be a good deal, expecting to pay a bit more but wanted to have a general cost in mind.

TB and MAF should come to about $150, the TB goes for around $100 to $125. You do not need the larger MAF sensor just the body so it should be cheap.
Make sure you specify the part numbers or they may swap a different part that does not fit. I have two A 112 90 15 01, look the same until you realize they are about 3/8" too high and rub the hood liner. Someone switched out the part I requested and at one point I had three of them.
I ended up with two unused parts for the engine cover, but two main bodies (15 01's) and a V8 nose piece as well. Finally these were to taken to the dump.

Re: Mercedes Engine Cover Mods and 74 mm Throttle Body
Thanks again for the help. Ultragauge showed up last week and I have been monitoring my intake numbers to get a baseline for comparison. Temps will be hard to compare but I'll see what averages look like. Available numbers are intake temp (f), intake pressure (psi), MAF1 (g/s), MAF2 (g/s). I setup a view with those numbers plus throttle position (%). Main thing I can see is throttle position vs MAF readings. Speed/RPM doesn't seem to effect much but I'll have to keep an eye out. So far MAF readings are consistent at specific throttle positions. I'll try to get on the highway and use the cruise control to keep the throttle position as steady as possible and compare numbers at the same % with different parts. Not really sure what else I can use besides dyno time. Will prob start ordering some parts this weekend.

Re: Mercedes Engine Cover Mods and 74 mm Throttle Body
I'm going to be removing my intake tubes soon and switching over to the two plastic ones you showed us above.
The TVT tubes require band clamps to be used on the airbox side and on the silicone tubes passing through the core support... Anytime the motor shifts on the mounts, the band clamps pull crooked and no matter how many times I've straightened them out, they go back crooked after hard driving. No doubt, I need to be investigating motor mounts soon.
Also, the TVT tubes retain heat for a much longer time than the OE plastic. The plastic is very thin, so even though it does a poorer job of insulating from heat, it also sheds it faster. Finally, I've never been a huge fan of the fit on the driver's side... it always seemed a bit crowded.

Speaking of, do you have the link to the poly mounts? Or are we still going to attempt the DIY version?

The big problem, or one of them anyway, is the fit of the connector. I'd go for the one listed and not risk it. It works so why take the risk of wasting money.
