BEGi Turbo Kit information/discussion thread
4500 rpm face plant... Na.. not going to play get around that .. it is what it is and it will be what it will be.. as my wife says on her birthday.. "it's only a number".. LOL
RESULTS ARE IN.. FOR WHAT ITS WORTH..
Hey Stephanie..
Not to add any issues if rumors are true..
But I don't see being a part of this project any further. I'm sure you can understand since it is now a year down the road since the start, and my involvement was base on this statement in a letter from Corky.. I feel myself along with several other members have been very patient in this matter, but for me it's time to move on to other proven mods for my car.
Where does this leave us as far as deposit is concerned?
"Our office and work shop are in the middle of renovation. The earliest opportunity to start on the CF project will be mid-December. We think eight to ten weeks should complete CF One. Hopefully, then, CF Two will only require four weeks to complete. "
I don’t know the rumor you refer to, sorry. Tim has been working on the Crossfire for the last two weeks. We are shooting to have it done by the end of the month.

*sigh* I mean I want it to be true... even if they did finish CF1 at the end of the month and turn around CF2 in the 8-10 range I don't know how I would feel giving up the cash after all this. (Not like its gonna happen anyway given the proven track record) I guess performance would have to do the talking, amazing may give me some chub back but as of now pretty limp on the whole thing. I just hit 80k, at high 60s I was pretty comfortable thinking I'd get some good miles out of the investment. I know the m112 is pretty stout but what are others thinking about swimming in boosted 100k plus waters. I feel like if I'm gonna need a new engine it should come with 2 extra cylinders at this point.
So so sad, what do they expect after this amount of time, this amount of excuses, pictures that never show up, promises of a running car in 10 to 15 days, in a E-mail from Corky months ago there was 3 weeks work left to do and months later there still looks like 3 weeks work left and now this :
I don’t know the rumor you refer to, sorry. Tim has been working on the Crossfire for the last two weeks. We are shooting to have it done by the end of the month.

I also see there is no mention of your refund that you requested. I would like to add you to the "I would like my refund back please" club of
which I am a member. I think 6 months was pushing it, a year overextends anyone's patience. I think the members have been more than fair.

Yep... granted we had an informal "contract agreement".. but I'd have to say they breached that long ago and still got a 2 mile rope to run on till it hit the end..
Ironically she was all friendly up till this email.. Guess she has a right to get pissy since everyone else bails after a year of waiting.. LOL.

I feel for you guys. You've had saintly patience up till now. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this project gets done eventually.

Here is a long but interesting read from another patient customer of Corkys business, this is just one part of a 10 page story with a sad ending that would bring tears to your eyes. Might want to check out this link and get the whole story.

Hoochy's Mishaps
There were many hitches in the development of the manifold and intercooler that caused delays but by July 1 it was installed and only lacked tuning.
We were going with the new chip re-flash and mine was to be the very first 2001 to get this. Colorado has gotten tough with emissions of late and the reflash would insure the car would pass. Initially the thought was it would take two weeks but it required so many updates that it stretched out to two months
Finally the week before Labor day it was ready and I eagerly flew to San An to retrieve it and take the long drive to Colorado were everyone was waiting to see the results. We took it out for several test runs and it ran great. I paid the balance and took off. I didn't get but two miles before it began coughing and generating a terrible vibration at 4000 rpm. I brought it back and Corky and I took it out and finally duplicated the malfunction. It all went to hell under gentle acceleration. When you pushed it hard it ran like a top. Of course to test it everyone pushed it hard..............
I decided to leave it there (It was miserable to call home and suffer the berating my loyal minions supported me with). Tim felt he could get in humming in three weeks at the outside. Three week later Tim is closing in on a finish when Corky takes it to the bank and burns up the wiring harness. How did he burn it up? I am not gonna rat him out, he will have to tell you. But it turns out my miata has ABS and it so rare that if it was a steak and you hit it with a fork it would go "Moo".
Six weeks later a harness still cant be located so they decide to fabricate one from the old harness. It was determined in September that the bogging occurred because the reflash did not contain enough resolution to handle the larger injectors which necessitated the install of an outboard xcede. The good news is that the owner of xcede is coming in from Australia the first week of November and will personally oversee the tune!
It is the week of November 11th and it is tuned perfectly out of boost. All that remains is to tune it under boost, button up the dash and get the AF gauge working. This should be done by the end of the next week and I plan to fly in on the 19th to drive it home.
I call into to Bell the following Tuesday to get a forlorn Corky on the phone. One of his key employees has resigned that morning without notice. Tim is off doing something and Stephanie is in Australia, he has a boatload of projects to get out the door and no one there to do the work............
Now since May my wife has been something less than understanding of all these delays, but at the beginning of October my grandson is to move in to go to school and it was agreed he will use my current car. No biggie since I the Miata would be back long before then......Soooooo You cant begin to imagine the heat I am taking from the both of them since October. Plus winter is closing in on Colorado and going over the Raton Pass in December in a Miata without snow tires is something akin to suicide. Plus the Plates expired in late September Plus there is uncertainty as to whether or not the xcede will throw codes making it impossible to pass emissions plus there is no one there to tune it and no way to even hazard a guess when it will be ready......
At this point I am slowly becoming aware of the obvious - to wit; The best laid schemes o mice an Hoochy gang aft aglay and that the sun has set on my plans for a forced induction Miata. I have but to yield to the inevitable.
Brings a tear to ones eye. Where is Oprah when you need her dammit!!!!

I think the only way I would believe these people would be if I could see photos of the current production and what has been done in the last two weeks that is different. They did promise photos after Thanksgiving, I wonder what those photos were going to show, they were a no-show.

At this point.. even if they posted video of DJ's car on a dyno putting out 280 RWHP I'm still moving on..or I guess I could play the game too and tell them it will be there in two weeks..
Way kool, but is it as effective as these ? :
I think Tighed1 is playing this just right . Leave the car there until it gets what he paid for whether it be 1 year ,2 years or whatever.
The only way he's going to get it is to call Corkys bluff.

Oh I agree.. His "high mileage" car is getting a rest.. and it's not like he "misses" driving one.. LOL. I could most likely deal with it if I had another one to drive and enjoy.. but under my circumstances "expecting" 4 weeks max (per the welcome to Turbo World letter at the start) turning into 6 months I'd be livid at that point.
Obligatory sigh for another month gone by with nothing new.
Breather hoses, K&Ns, and MAF elbow left to get and I'll be joining the standard mods club.

I actually went to the site this morning.. hoping they had a "we'll show you" attitude.. not so much for myself as I've accepted "standard mod" time and $200 donation to their web page support.
This totally sucks.
So he may have other problems. Begi looks like it has financial problems if it cannot spend any money on returning deposits when it has clearly failed in its obligations. If the receivers go in Tighed will have to show up and claim ownership of the car before he can get his hands on it. The car may be sitting on the lot in the sun like others were reported to be. After all this time damage to the car can be expected. If Tighed misses any notices of bankruptcy the car will be deemed abandoned and sold as assets to pay of secured creditors, I am sure US and Canadian laws are similar in many respects.
It's a long way to pick up a non drivable car and have it transported back to Arizona from Texas.
