Default Easy Question for the Veterans of the board, Air Filter

The silver cover on top of the engine that would normally house the air filter, how does that come off ? Does it have rubber gromets holding it in place and it just pops off or .....?
Last time I tried to remove something like this it didnt come off like I thought it would, instead it came off in pieces.

Drumroll gentlemen....

It says in my manual 60,000 miles or 4 years replace air filter ?

Did I read that correctly ?

your '04 was manufactured in 11/04? sure its not an '05?

from what i read, the engine cover is held on by a bunch of rubber grommets, and some gentle tugging should do trick --

standing at the front of the car you first slip the round air intake hoses off the engine cover and push them aside.

the cover is held in place in rubber snap mounts...meaning you basically just pull up on it and it pops out of the mounts.

the easiest way is to grab it at the back first and pull up...then one side at the front and then the other.

Thank you gentlemen. I knew I could count on you guys here. Last time I gave it a quick tug or jerked on something like this it came apart in pieces, t'was rather expensive to replace too. This cover is plastic too, figure I better ask first before I start jerking on this one. Terry
