Default 2005 Cat Converter in/out size?

Before I remove the driver's side cat converter I want to order replacement cat. Anyone know for sure the in/out diameter? Listed as 2" / 2.5" / 3". Car has been sitting on the side of the house for about a year with a split cat converter at the weld. Good thing I have two other Xfires to get around with! LoL

Why not just reweld it?

I had a split seam on the driver's side forward cat years ago. Removed it from the car, welded it myself and reinstalled. Cost = zero and it is still on my car functioning just fine.

Need a welder and how to use it! Muffler shops won't do it cause they said it's against the law to replace just the cat. Part of the stolen cat problem even though it's brand new cat!

Instead of replacing it, just have them repair the weld.

I don't want to deal with rewelding. I just want to use pipe clamps and keep it simple if possible. New EPA approved free flow cat, "so they say," is $45 on eBay.

"Truth be told," I found, months ago, a used cat and ran into the above mentioned problems. I cut and used clamps to install it but not a very good job. One pipe was not round and not a good fit and makes some noise. Now I have time, "more or less," ito install a new cat better with no leak. If I could find someone to weld it I would and forget the new cat! When your laying on your back in the driveway things are never simple.

In California they must be welded on.

Once you know the required diameter and length, look into Jeg's or Summit for a free flow cat. They also have wrap around clamps that will not leak..I would stay away from Ebay.

I appreciate the tip "but" spending $720 instead of $50 weld job just doesn't make good sense to me. When you have three Crossfires you have to be a little frugal with the money you spend to keep the fleet gooing. LoL
