Default P0120 Code... need help

my diagnostic software is showing that the P0120 code is a (Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Malfunction) and I'm pretty sure its putting me in limp mode.. When i push down on the gas peddle the engine revs but the obdII port is only showing my throttle at 18% max even though the revs are going way higher and it also seems that it is messing with my shift points while in drive.. It doesn't want to shift up on its own unless i go very slow into the next gear.. I tried cleaning my throttle position sensor like waldig did in this post ( https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...odies-now.html ) but all i had to do it with was CRC Throttle Body & Air-Intake Cleaner it did remove some black stuff off the contacts but not sure if its harsh enough to Clean it completely but also do not want to use something that might mess it up. After I cleaned the contacts i put it back on the car then went for a lil drive .. It seemed like it was driving ok until i got to the main road and floored it .. it started out grate then suddenly started doing the same thing all over ... my head hurts.. I also had my transmission flushed a few days ago just to make sure i wasn't low on fluid or bad fluid or whatever soooo any idea's will be very helpfull........

on another matter I was going to get my fuel injectors this month till all this came up then the tune and then see what this car can Reilly do with my setup but this has thrown a wrench in my plans for now

there was a lot more to tuning Imports car then just making power with a turbo my friend....

we had to change a ton of stuff in the coding such as trans tq limits/maps etc.

ie, tranny sees too much and throws you in limp mode...

I was....he is hunting hardware issues that could be the result of software limitions. If you look back in his origional thread I was helping by giving him things to look for in the tuning. You simply cannot run stock software with this setup efficiently. We know the ECU software/maps better then anyone in the industry by far. I think its great what he is doing.

your guy in atlanta used to work for us.....(tony) Jerry was the mastermind behind the crossfire turbo project we did, and did all the programming for it.

Service manual says P0120 is the dual position sensors in the throttle body. Not the pedal or tune or leaks.

Having researched the pedal sensors, to design a sprint booster clone, I found that it is also a dual system. Failure or the primary sensor causes a switch over to the secondary sensor. The secondary sensor only puts out about 40% of the voltage of the primary. So limp mode is 40% full throttle. I would guess the same thing applies to the throttle side, but reverse.

my leaks were under the intake mainifold,,,another time it was a broken clamp on the tube of the intake manifold,,now that one i almost never found hit it with my hand and it moved,,, but looked tight, that one caused the same code and problem you have. good luck jim

No, the position sensor in the throttle body.

The code is for throttle position not pedal position.
