Here she is with her new brain and new wheel badges. All cleaned and ready to roll again. She looks good for 17 years old with only 27k on the clock.

Glad to hear you are up and running again. I expect to have to repair my RCU in the near future, so may I ask were did you get your "new" one from. Also I am after new wheel badges/stickers, any advice greatly received.

Cheers
Mark

Candyman, how did you get away with having your front windows tinted?

They look darker in the photo than they actually are. They are street legal. However some of the film has started to breakdown a little, so i was thinking about getting them redone

Mark. If you can get the RCU repaired, then great. It may be the soldering needs redoing on the board. For approximately £165.00 you can buy a brand new one here...
Chrysler Crossfire parts and accessories
This is also the place where I purchased new wheel badges.
Really easy to do. Just take off the wheel nut covers, slide a thin pen knife along the edge of the old badge and slowly prise it off. You might find the the old rubber cover comes off and leaves the metal back plate but just keep trying and it will come off. Then clean the space with the wipes provided, making sure that none of the old glue is left behind. Then carefully apply the new badge in the space. The set of 4 costs about £25.00 from the same site.
Good luck

Cheers Candyman. I work in the PCB field, so am happy to work on the PCB doing repairs, but it is always beneficial to have a backstop in case the PCB is beyond repair. The wheel badges look brilliant.

Hi all to those in the UK, I have just got my 2004 Coupe on the road after purchasing it recently. It's the second one I have owned and this one is a beauty with just 27,000 miles on the clock. It had been standing for eight years untouched, I got it trailered home and set to work on getting it ready for running. I drained every last drop of stale fuel out of it, changed the seized fuel pump, new fuel filter, new engine oil and filter, new battery, changed the RCM, flushed thru new fuel to the injectors and then turned the key and it fired up in just a few seconds, no smoke, no noises and now has a fresh MOT and tax, been to Cornwall and back with around 34 mpg taking it easy. I am based in Shillington near Hitchin Hertfordshire.

I often wonder this, with all the modified VW Golf's you see driving around UK streets, with blacked out windows (including the front)!
They obviously are good friends with the garage/tester and slip him a couple of £ notes. :D

Hi Amanda

We could do with a bit more info please.

Has it always been deployed since you bought it, did it deploy once and never come back down when the speed dropped, can you manually retract it, were there any motor noises heard.....things like that will allow us to help you.

Happy motoring

Hi. It has been stuck since before I bought it. It won’t manually retract with the dashboard button. There are no noises at all when I press the button.
The previous owner said it had worked intermittently in the past.
Ido not know if it got stuck when automatically deployed or with the button.
Thank you!
