License plate lights don't work

I bought my 6 about 4 weeks ago and the little light out warning light on the dash has been on since day one. I looked all around the car; during the day, and could never find any bulbs out...............until yesterday. My buddy was driving behind me and told me that my license plate lights weren't working. I took them apart and changed the bulbs and still nothing. So.......I went to the dealer tonight and told him they don't work and that I changed the bulbs already today and that it was an electrical problem(and I'll wait while they inspect the car). After about 40 minutes my service advisor comes out to me and says "well; it's not your bulbs..............it's an electrical problem" LMFAO!!! He then said it would take about 4 hours for the tech to troubleshoot and that I should bring it back another day and since I didn't bring one of my other cars with me I agreed.

Anybody else have this issue with the lights?

Did you check the inside fuse panel?

The license lights share a fuse with the gauge cluster idiot lights.................which still work...............so there's no need to check the fuse as I know it's working. It has faulty wiring and/or a short inbetween somewhere from the fuse to the actual lights.

I've had the same problem for 8 months. No license plate lights. No fix so far.

I'm gonna most likely drop my 6 off at the stealership tomorrow night and tell them I don't want it back until it's fixed. It's BS not being able to legally drive my "new" car at night.

Mine work fine. Sorry to hear that yours is behaving badly. Still, at least the dash indicator is working. Hopefully those techs know how to use a multitester and some basic electronics education and figure it out.

I took the car back in on Tuesday night(dealer's service dept. is open until midnight) and I received a call that it was fixed on Wednesday afternoon. It turns out the license lights were neve plugged in(behind the trim panel on the hatch) from the factory. LMFAO...........me and the service adviser were cracking up over that one.
