Default HID vs Standard low beam question

I have two Cadillac's with OEM HID low beams and when you turn the high beams on the HID low beams also stay on which gives you much better visibility. My question is why is it on cars with standard lights when you turn your high beams on the low beams go off?

The low beams stay on when the highs are on on the XFire and they're not HID.

Most state statutes limit the number of "driving" lights (white), facing forward, to a maximum of 4. Most car makers build this feature in.

I replaced my OEM headlamps high and low with HID's, when I turn on my high beams the low beams also stay on.

With a Crossfire, if you have the foglights on with the low beams on and then switch to high beams, the fog lights go off, but the low beams stay on. Switch back to low beams and the foglights come on.

Maxcichon and Woodlands1 are right. Most states do specify only 4 driving lights to be on at a time.

I just checked my Crossfire....with the high beams on the low beams are on as well.......just the foglights go out.

I'd still like to find out a way to have all three sets of lights on at the same time. I love the way the fog's light up the road right in front of my car, but I also like the way the high beams light up a distance out in front of me!

It is a great bike. I need to post some photos. I have done a couple of mods that I think make it even better.
