Hood liner removal
 

Hi guys, I have removed my hood liner and was wondering what have the rest of you who have removed it done about the metal clips on the hood used to keep it in position. Bent them over, left them as they are, or cut them off?

I left mine alone, why make bare metal or crack the paint if you don't have to...

I left mine alone after removing pad but also removed the rear rubber cowl seal to help let some heat out.

I left mine as stock also. Didn't think about the cowl seal. I'll have to check that out.

I left mine there also,, as far as removing the cowling seal ,, as you know i can read my engine temp in 1/2 degree increments,, I found that with the cowl rubber removed my temp was up 1 1/2 degrees with a manual gauge you will not see the increase,, what is does, is it forces the air over the engine to help cool it. now this is for the V8 as it is 3" more forward than the V6,,,never tested this on the V6.

if someone has a thermocouple with gauge or meter,, maybe this could be tested on the V6 at the throttle body with rubber in and with rubber out. jim

Just my $.02 here. (Because the base of the windshield is actually a "High Pressure" area) wouldn't it be more likely to let cool outside air "in" instead of out at speed?
At say speeds of 25 mph or less, (where the slipstream of air isn't moving over the surface of the car's exterior very fast) then the heated under hood air would probably escape. But wouldn't that hot air then eventually wind up being sucked down the vents and into the interior?

My guess the only real difference is underhood temps will equalize quicker when parked. Need to mock up some yarn telltales to see if any air movement is there when moving, and in which direction.
I would assume, any air movement is good air movement, but if there is enough to cause a pressure change under the car, that could be bad (but I doubt it). Does the Base crossfire have that seal? I know the Base has less sound deadening, and maybe that is the primary purpose of it?
