Default How to replace trunk light?

Trying to swap the light in my trunk on the left side.

Anyone know how to access the bulb? Can't find anything from searching.

The housing is slid sideways and pried out at the end you are pushing it from, if that does not work you push it from the other end.
I replaced mine with an LED version and it is much brighter.CLICK
The original light has nothing at the back of the bulb to reflect the light.

The more I'm starting to read, the more I'm starting to think each years model has a different trunk light. Some are on the right, some are on the left, etc.

Mine is on the left in my 2004, I just tried pushing it and it didn't budge. It's almost kind of "pushed in" into the interior. It doesn't move when I slide it any way, I don't think I can fit anything under it. I just tried taking a picture, hopefully this helps.

As stated, it does push from one side to the other to remove. Check here I added a few extra factory lights of my own: Cargo lighting by James1549 | CrossfireForum

Mine was on the left side, drivers side, my pictures show the one I added on the passenger side. The LED license plate light fitted perfectly in the existing hole. I just had to add the same size hole on the passenger side and add some wires to it.

I also added similar lights in the cabin foot wells. CLICK

I think you guy's are missing what I'm asking.

I'm not trying to replace the entire trunk light. I'm looking to replace the bulb.

I can't figure out how to get the current light cover off to access the bulb and sliding it does nothing.

You take the light assembly out of the slot and access the bulb from the rear.
NOTE! It is an extremely hard to find #3418 bulb, I believe it is 35 MM as opposed to the normal 28 MM stocked by most places.
1.38" (35mm) Maximum Overall Length

I have told you how it is done, my article on putting in new lights shows the new light which is similar to the one you want out.
I told you how it was done and it was wrong. Oops!
I have studied the one I took out and found that if you pick the correct end you just pry it out from under the lip at the end.
The end you pry from is the one where you can not see the terminal at the end of the bulb. In the photo you pry from the right hand side.

The bulb is 42 mm long, tip to tip. Identified as F 42.
Mine is a Phillips 12866 12V 10W K 25673

@onehundred80 thank you so much for that bulb size! Everyone and every websites says it's the same size as the glovebox but it's not... it's longer. Thank you so much!!!

I just went out to pull mine, and replace it, and found that over the years the connections had just been a tad corroded with 'TIME GOOP'. A good wipe down and the bulb fired right up. WHew!

LED's are a slippery slope. Replace one OEM bulb with an LED and then you can't just stop there. Before ya know it you're replacing everything with LED's. 180 took it to the next level and started cutting holes and adding more LED's! This is why I haven't replaced a single bulb with an LED. I can practice abstinence but not temperance!
