Confusion on paint code
Chaps,
I've tried to search etc without disturbing you on this, but still confused. My car is the silver / blue colour (coupe 2004), but also seems to be described as "Sapphire silver" AND "Sapphire silver blue". I've also seen the code noted as 368/PS3 and 368 BS3? There is a supplier in the UK which stocks sapphire silver, but when you go to order, it asks whether you want PS3 or BS3? Very confuzzling? Can you help?, as I have some minor touch up work I want to do next w/e. Thanks |

Cheers buddy,
Seems it's PS3 That would be correct. But, 368 is also correct. |

Re: Confusion on paint code
This is what confuses me buddy. When I try to order from the UK site for that colour, it asks if I want BS3 or PS3? Why have 2 choices from the drop down box if they are both the same?????

;) Order the less expensive one. If they are both the same price, toss a coin. LOL ;) Seems crazy to me having two codes but then again I am sure they paid some high priced engineering team lots o $ to make this as confusing as it is... . |
Re: Confusion on paint code

Re: Confusion on paint code
Thanks buddy,
It's only for some minor touch up work here and there (in inconspicuous areas!) - so should be ok. |

If this is DIY remember you can alter the color a little by varying the amount of reducer, ( more reducer- lighter color), and distance of the gun from surface, more distance-lighter color. Good luck. |

Re: Confusion on paint code
Since they are both PS3 and 368 I would think it's a marketing thing, they should be the same.

Re: Confusion on paint code
~ I had a similar situation with Aero-Blue as well as the Silver Sapphire blue. The paint store was unable to match the color or cross reference it properly and upon test spray out, neither color matched.
~ So, the paint store took out their "paint reader device" and I had them read from under the hood, a sample area that was not faded, and did not have clear coat on it. ~ They mixed according to what their computer said, I took it home and did another test spray out and it was a beautiful match for both colors. |

Re: Confusion on paint code
~ No, because under the hood there is no top coat, on our cars, only paint, if by top coat you meant clearcoat. I did try to fix the "buff burn " at the nose of the hood on the Aero-Blue, but I should not have used any primer. When I feathered it, the edge of the primer showed, so I have to try again. This is a paint burn about 3 inches long right at the nose. I will remove the chrome emblem this time when I re-visit it. Then attempt to fis the scuff marks on the bumper cover next.
