Default Fog light restoration?

Has anyone had any luck in restoring the glass fog light lens? I see I am not the only one with pitted lens on the glass fog lights. I would like to get mine back in shape without spending $400 bucks.

What about this?

James

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market used foglamps

polish out glass scratches

I removed and cleaned the inside of my foglamps this removed that hazy film and they look a lot better. I haven't tried to polish out the scratches hope the video helps. car-parts .com prices are reasonable, I have used them on other parts

I used the 3M kit for this. Bought it from the local auto parts store. It worked fantastic. All you need is a drill motor.

Meguires has a kit as well

Warning, you must tape off the area around the lens, or risk damaging your paint.

David M, are you confusing this with HEADLIGHT restoration ?
I wasn't aware that 2M had a kit for the GLASS in the fog lights.

I believe so, James1549 tried to polish the glass some time back, but removing a couple of thou of glass takes some doing. Probably need a diamond wheel of some kind to do it, getting finer and finer until it was polished again.

I had bought a fog light from eBay really cheap and it was terribly pitted.
I got some glass polishing stuff from Amazon that was advertised to fix pitted windshields.
2 hours later and almost burning out my drill, I had hardly made a difference.
I sold the light as-is.

Maybe it’s time I put some protection on my fogs, they have only a few chips so ther look good.
You guys must enter the Baja desert race.

I installed xPel covers on mine the week I bought the car.

My mistake. Glass is a pretty hard substance compared to plastic. The only thing I can think that might work is a clear (two part) LPU paint. Basically the same clear coat paint you find over the base coat paint on your car.

Sadly that would chip, easier than glass.
Get a spare set while you can.

Maybe silicon sealant on a sacrificial thin sheet of clear plastic?
