Trailer Hitch
Any ideas for installing a trailer hitch. I need to tow my SeaDoo. Everyone I have spoke to say it cannot be done. And Chrysler emailed back telling me no, with reference to the manual.
my first thought would be that the exhaust is in the way. could you find a hitch that mounts on both left and right sides? even then i'm not sure where there is solid structure to attach to. you may be out of luck --
Take the money your going to spend on a hitch and put it toward a beater car that already has one. Why would you want to tow something with a $40K sports coupe. How many Z4s, S2ks or Zs do you see with hitches. Don't ruin your crossfire by doing something like that. Sorry if I sound like a punk, its just my opinion.
I've been told that there is no solid structure or frame to attach the trailer hitch. So I might be hooped, but I thought I would put the question out to see if any one else has gone through this.
Oh! ... forgot to mention too that I am trading in my SeaDoo GTX 110hp for the new 215hp machine. This should rip the skin off my face when I get out into the water.

I would be interested in hearing more on this myself... Its going to take removing the rear bumper cover and adding in some special bracing on the rear bumper material... then cutting a peep hole in the rear bumper. A class one flat bar type would only require a small 1/2 x 2 inch hole. Class one is under 200lbs tounge weight and less than 1500 lbs total trailer weight.
It would be some serious work to remove the bumper and investigate the possibilities... I wouldn't even know where to start.

Since the total load rating for the Crossfire is 415 lbs including passengers, I don't think you would need a hitch larger than a class I. I'm sure using a trailer hitch would void most of your powertrain warranty.
