Default Painting the silver trim?

I've been looking at the grill, the side vent trim and the trim around the windshield. I think the car would look alot better if these were painted to match the color of the car. Has anyone else thought about doing this?

some have actually done it. i've seen a blaze red and a black on this forum that did it. try a search for "painted trim" or "windshield trim" or something similar --

i personally like the silver trim; it contrasts nicely with the graphite paint.

I don't like it the same color as the car. Either silver or chrome.

I really don't like the silver on my alabaster car. I am thinking of going to paint it also.

...then there are those of us in base coupes, that wouldn't mind a little silver added to the outsides. I was actually bummed out that the side strakes were black on the base coupe when I bought the car, but could not swing the payments on a limited. No matter. There are some beautiful stainless ones available through the aftermarket!

You know I wanted to paint mine dark grey along with the wheels and door handles. Then install carbon fiber side strakes. I think some one needs to fab a carbon fiber wing and hood. The cars is begging for a low stance and dark accents Euro Tuner look would make it hot.

I too would like to see some cool bumpers different versions of the Quarter Panels, maybe some ground Effects. I have a cool design for a Roof Mount spoiler. Its very subtle, but for sure adds to the cars already classy lines. I also have a cool rear diffuser. I know there is one guy in the UK that is doing something with the Crossfire's as far as grills go. The dude emailed me asking me if my grill that I had done for my car was a one off, or if I was planning on producing them. I said they were a one off, but I plan on doing a lot more for these cars & there drivers.

I know this is off the paint subject, but I was thinking that a new grill would be awesome. I think a grill that is alot like the one we have except remove the chrysler piece and not just the little oval logo but the hole chrysler piece and put a Benz emblem in the middle of the grill. I hope that makes sense.

A benz emblem on a Chrysler even though it has some MB internal parts, does not make sense.

It's just like the people that buy the conversion kit for suburbans to make them look like a Cady. I just think that a grill with out the Chrysler sliver wing on it would look better in my opinion and if you wanted you could put a Benz emblem in the center. The car is powered by Benz and everyone seems to want to announce it so why not do it in a big way.

I've also seen some people go as far as to put c-class body panels on civics and try to pass them off as MB's. There comes a point where all of this just becomes plain tacky.

Until Merc comes out with the XF class, Benz emblems need to stay on benz's.

The Honda's trying to look like a Benz is stupid but as far as the XFire having a Benz emblem, well you have your opinion and I have mine. It was mainly just a random thought that passed through my head as I was look at the car one day. Just getting rid of the chrysler wing would make the car look a little better in my opinion.

Are the side stakes easy to remove? Where do you go to find aftermarket ones?

Thanks.

Your car is not a Mercedes, why would you want to put a Silver Star on the grill when it is a Crossfire? Are you trying to impress someone? You can either be proud of your Crossfire, or Buy a real MB. Then again, you could install a "powered by Mercedes Benz" name plate on your car to let everyone know that the engine and most other parts are made by MB! Worked for me.

Hey, I've got a base Crossfire (black), and the windshield trim, door handles are black as well. Is there any good way to give mine the silver look found on every other type of Crossfire?

Thanks.

Yep, the basic comes only in all black. Your options are to paint it, or better yet buy the chrome surround for the windshield and side vents.
