Front turnal signal Europe, replacement ?

I accidently scratced my turn signal on the fender. I think it's only in Europe we have the turn signal at this place (the other is in the head light as normal), in US it's an orange position light.

The problem is, there are no where to buy them, even the used ones looks to be out of store. Now I will glue togehter my old turn signal. But in the furture, how to fix this problem. On Swedish private import car there are common to replace the US lights with E gualified LED turn signals. Maybe I can use one of these. But then how to get it good looking.

I have a 3D-Printer and now I try to design an adapter plate where I can mount this replacement LED turn signal. Or have anyone seen something like this already made ?

Look at the icluded photo of my prototype adapter.

There are a lot of small details to add. But first I must get the shape and the curves fit the body of the car. Not very easy.

Good luck with the project. If successful let us know, many will be interested in getting them.

If they fit I will later place the drawing on my homepage, somewhere here: 2005 years Chrysler Crossfire, My own repair DIY

The replacement I plan to use is something like this:

They must be E-certified to be street legal. Today that's not a big problem I hope.

One hour left until I can check if I got the shape of it correct, but just a prototype. I have blue filament I can use later that mach to my car.

Now I have added it to my homepage so you can folow it:

Chrysler Crossfire: Turn signal adapter

It look promissing. What could a man/girl do without a 3D-printer ?

Astrofriend, you are well on your way to completing your project, but check this post, the front lights are being made and I think it could work for you marker light

Many thanks for the link, they looks fine, but I think they are not E-certified, a demand in Sweden and they look carefully for this E-sign. Better with this flat design, the European lights protrude out more than one cm and put them at risk to be smashed, but they have to to let the light been viewed from different angles.

Re: Front turnal signal Europe, replacement ?

Now I think I did the last change of the design. I had to replace the 3D-printed leaf spring with another design.

Chrysler Crossfire: The last design

Now I only have to mirror it to have a left turn light adapter too. And then 3D-print it with a blue filament.

Crossfire style.

New design of the lock mechanism. The back gets a very rough surface due to the support it stands on. But better that than the front being bad.

If it fit I will put a printable file on my homepage for you who find it interesting.

Do have access to a scanner? You should be able to build a 3D model using original. molded frame. You will need to section the lens and the frame and scan them to develop the complete model. This would also allow you to replicate the mating lamp socket attachment. Using reverse engineering techniques can greatly reduce having to redesign the part.

Re: Front turnal signal Europe, replacement ?

I cannot see why the main body cannot be saved and just the lens replaced, that would be much easier.
The lens should be prismatic.

Re: Front turnal signal Europe, replacement ?

Shamrock already makes these.

Re: Front turnal signal Europe, replacement ?

The fender turn signals are different in Europe, they protrude outside the fender. I think they must be visible from behind to be street legal in Europe, at least in Sweden. No prismatic inside surface, more like a wave. I have never tried to 3D-print transparent plastic, but read about it. The bottom part is okay, just need to separate it from the glass part without breaking it. The Shamrock isn't the European style, it has a flat front surface.
