Default Roommate's Band - Check them out...

My roommate is the drummer for a new band... They are actually really good... everyone who hears them likes them. Their sound is pretty unique. They have one CD recorded already, but they are in the process of recording their new songs (which are much better IMHO). The first songs are their new ones, and the second set is their original CD. The first recordings are just of a practice session, and the finished songs will be of the same quality of the original CD. They play in NYC a few times a month. Check them out...

I would love to hear some comments after you listen to some of the songs...

Mighty...the music is very, very good. Musicians they definitely are. Vocals are no where near up to the level of the music. Oh, wait...I was starting to feel like Simon Cowell for a moment. Seriously, good band...needs a lead vocalist.

Really? What most people tell me is that the vocals are excellent... I personally think he has a great voice...

I'm no recording artist/music major, to be sure. I did play bass in a band for several years and have dabbled with guitar, banjo & harmonica off and on for many more. Just personal preference for me, I guess, but hopefully more will weigh in so you have more than just my opinion. The band does have it together though and should go far.

for me its very good stuff... the music is on the brink of something magical while the vocals tend to get pitchy... however its not drastic nor anything he can't work out or even studio edits can/will do masking...

but you know what, where his voice SEEMS to falter is what i like about Cat Stevens voice... i hear the "GR8fuldead" in their music...david gray and Blunt...

Are they at this FULL time or have day jobs and such?...

They are actually still in school. The lead singer is 21 and goes to Columbia, and my roommate and the bassist are 23 and still in school as well. They practice a few times a week, and have played at the Bitter End, Crash Mansion, Arlene's Grocery and The Cutting Room to name a few. I know all of them would love to do this professionally and are serious about it.
