Default anyone know what this is?

I'm hoping with the diverse background/occupations that frequent this site, one of you might know what this rotating pyramid on a light pole is.

Possibly solar panels to power the cameras.

My bet would be a device to keep birds away....possibly keep them from nesting on the camera.

looks like some kind of radar device for the automated camera, guess it senses human activity. I think the black square thing is an infared lamp so they can see in the dark, where is this anyways, military?

It's a Crossfire detector.

This is on a parking lot across a theatre in Hollywood. Odd thing is other nearby lightpoles also have cameras but only two of them has one with the rotating pyramid.

Some say that the pyramids in Egypt were created by aliens. Maybe these smaller pyramids are just scouts for a mounting alien invasion bent on sucking all our brains our and using our bodies as host for their continued procreation.

Or maybe not...

At first I thought I was looking at a big diskette. From the opaque black appearance I would think it's a group of solar cells but there wouldn't be any reason for solar cells to rotate, well at least at the speed they're rotating, plus it doesn't appear that there would be enough cells on that small of a surface to create much voltage.
I'm starting to think that Jeeps response is the correct one. Prelude to brain sucking alien attack.........sweet!

Pyramidal Power article was feature on the cover of Infinite Energy magazine, Issue 73 (http://www.infinite-energy.com/iemag...e73/index.html), 2007.

A DC to RF Converter for the Capture of Atmospheric Electrostatic Energy
A California researcher, Peter Grandics, shows how an antenna, modeled on the Great Pyramid of Giza, can transfer the power of atmospheric electrostatic discharge impulses into a resonant circuit that converts the random impulses into an alternating current as a potential source of renewable electric power.
Grandics expects that the technology might be ready to take to market perhaps some time next year. It "depends on the size of the pyramid that needs to be built for self-sustaining energy extraction."

if you read it real fast it can make your brain explode!!
