Does the model year of your XFire really matter to you? Correct me if I'm wrong but all XFires do look alike. A coupe is a coupe, and a roadster is a roadster no matter what year of manufacture has been assigned to it from 2004-2008. Other than certain color availability, a 2004 could look like a 2008.

I do realize that when trade-in time comes a newer model year is worth more than an older model year, but other than that does it really matter what year your XFire is? One would think the only real important factors would be mechanical and cosmetic condition. Do you agree or disagree?

If you're buying a 2006-2008 model and plan on holding on to it for a while I don't think there's a huge difference. In 5 years from now they will be worth about the same, but you will pay a huge premium for a 2008 versus a 2006 today.

 

With the exception of those who yearn for an automatically adjustable rear view mirror (available only on the 04's) you're correct, they do all look alike.
Certain colors have been added, and deleted over the years, but that would fall under individual tastes.
More 04s probably had manual tranny "issues" than any other year. But those problems would probably be taken care of by now on any used 04 you may find.
Speaking for myself, I don't envy anybody who owns a newer Crossfire. But a "Life Time Warranty" would be "sweet", since I plan on keeping mine for a long time.

 

And no TC fuse to pull.

 

No offense to my "older model" brethren, but the newer models (2007, 2008) have fewer (if any) major problems.

 

I live in Ohio and bought my Crossfire from Tom Ahl in Lima OH. They recently sent me an offer to go to the lifetime poertrain warrenty for $900. The Crossfire had to have been a certified used vehicle or have the 80,000 mile 8 year warrenty. You might inquire as to your eligibility.

Opticon, what exactly are you saying? My 04 has TC, and I assume it has a fuse/fuses that can be pulled. But unless I also disengage the "sensor" under the consol, the TC won't be completely shut off.
Isn't that just like all the other later model Crossfires?

 

Developments in the "TC Fuse" thread (fuse box pictures and all) have suggested otherwise.

And after pulling my 2007's 40 amp SM/TC/ABS fuse, I have no driving aids whatsoever.

I have a SRT6 is this the same fuse? And that means no ABS !

 

Not sure about the SRT6. I don't know if I'd screw with the traction control on a vehicle with an open rear diff, 330hp, and an automatic trans.

In my 2007 base coupe there are two 40 amp fuses (#17 & #18). One will disable all driving aids (Traction Control, Stability Management, and ABS) and trigger two warning lights on the instrument cluster. The other will affect the operation of your brake lights (don't pull that one).

^ That seems to be different for early model Crossfires.
