Default Wanna see a great movie?

I seldom go to the movies, I prefer to rent. But once in awile a movie catches my attention. I have not been to the theatre since Nov 07 to see No County For Old Men, a multi Oscar winning movie. So for my next great recommendation it is Gran Torino, Clint Eastwoods new movie. Go see it, it may not be exactly what you'd expect.

Taken was very good.

Grand Turino was great

No County For Old Men was over hyped. it was good but far from great.

I saw Gran Torino last night on borrowed DVD. Pretty cool, would have liked to see more of the car! Suprise ending for me.

That's funny, I felt the same way about Gran Torino. And I'm a fan of Eastwood's direction. Both were overblown in my opinion, It makes me wonder what I missed that make some movies such a big deal.

A borrowed DVD??? Do you mean one of those pirated ones in which you can see the backs of other peoples heads?

Where in the world did you get one so early?

I watched Gran Torino at home last night, and thought it was pretty good. Vintage Eastwood.

However, last night I also watched Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler. In my opinion both were better (depending on what movie genre you like). Slumdog Millionaire has a lot going for it: action, drama, comedy. Also, it is done in a 'breaking the mold' way. There isn't much cookie cutter about it. Very well done. I would highly suggest moving it to the top of your Netflix queue for when it comes out or going to see it in the movie ASAP.

Both were excellent films. I could relate to both. Clint was vintage Callahan. **** Taken............ Well if you have a daughter you could walk in Liam Neeson'sfootsteps all the way to Paris. ****1/2

Gotta tell you, I can still close my eyes & picture the scene: "That depends. Do you see me?"
Jeezuz.
I think what blew me away was, as easily as you could relate to every other character in the movie & their actions, it was impossible to relate to someone as completely amoral as Chigurh.

No doubt No Country for Old Men was awesome. You may have to see it twice to fully understand it. I know I did. It all makes sense now.

Gran Torino is ok but it's really not all that rememberable. I would not consider it one of his best.

I think The Wrestler with Micky Rourke is a much more unique film with a lot of heart and great acting.

Actually some movies come out on "studio distrubution only" dvd copies which are real dvd quality versions ... and not filmed in the theater with a cam. There out there if you know where and how to find them
