Site Commercialization
I guess Mighty decided to put ads on the site.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
Haha, I noticed that this morning...
I'm already not a fan... However, as long as no one clicks on them he won't make any money...and that is how google ads works. |
Re: Site Commercialization
I think some commercialization is good. Especially for exlusive Crossfire vendor sites. It helps with a lot of the newbies questions.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
Thinking about it - I beleve that if the adds are related to the Crossfire then I have no issue. I just hope that we do not have to look at adds for " Other items" ;)
|
Re: Site Commercialization
I'm somewhat surprised that mightyjlr finally gave in to the advertisers.....I guess it's the economy:confused:
I liked the fact that his site was clean of clutter for so long....Oh well, but I already miss the random pics on the front page........ I take that last comment back, pics are back up.......Thanks mightyjlr:) |
Re: Site Commercialization
I don't mind the ads so much, but IT HAS SLOWED PAGE ACCESS TO A CRAWL!!! OMG, this stops browsing the threads....it takes forever.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
Well the idea that the add's would be related to the Crossfire did not last long with me as per the info we are now getting;

Re: Site Commercialization
Personally, I don't care one way or the other.
I'll take ads over loss of the forum any day, and honestly felt a little guilty getting all this site provided for free. There is no free lunch, EVER! roadster with a stick |
Re: Site Commercialization
Don't like the adds but I do like free enterprise and it is his toy.
Kind of contradictory, I like it, I don't like it, yes, no oh dang it never mind.... My name is paulw and I can't help it I didn't approve those messages! (I know no one gives a crap but there I've said it anyway) |
Re: Site Commercialization
Makes no difference to me - I'm pretty immune to ads anyway and totally ignore them on the web, in magazines, etc. I don't even watch TV shows when they're broadcast because once a commercial comes on, I'm gone. Everything I watch is digitally recorded and commercials are essentially zapped out. I know what I want to buy and when I want to buy it. Maybe I was in direct response marketing too long, but it's hard to get something to catch my eye.
Honestly, not until reading this thread did it even occur to me that this change had taken place. |
Re: Site Commercialization
Argghh thats kinda like seeing a beautiful woman then she turns and you see all these nasty tatoos on her backside.
wonder if they will end up having influence over site content? |

Re: Site Commercialization
Personal prefrence I guess.
When some thing is so nice seems a shame to change it. but I see that its all X-fire adds . . . Like you said about Budweiser its the sign of the times...... No choice but to like it....or get used to it..... |
Re: Site Commercialization
Adds on the internet, Wow never seen that before:rolleyes:
Do I dare turn off my pop-up blocker? At least these are taste full, and not in your face. Like FP said, They may help someone. |

As to the site ads, eh......no big deal. We deal with this every day everywhere. If he can score a few bucks to help offset the cost of running the servers then it's a non-issue. As long as I don't see Mustang ads appearing I'm fine with it. |
Re: Site Commercialization
Dough . . . . I cant talk mouth full with foot in it!

Re: Site Commercialization
I guess I don't see any ads. I am running Firefox with the Adblock plus add-on. Apparently it does the trick.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
i think it is just fine to have ads on here, all the other forums do it. it helps pay for all his time and expense on running a site.
get firefox with adblock if you do not want to see them, it is free. |
Re: Site Commercialization
agree photoman. The ads don't bother me at all.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
Good for Mighty for finally making some money off this forum. :D
Just don't allow those annoying POP-UP adds! |
Re: Site Commercialization
It's about time Mighty, why not make some money?

Re: Site Commercialization
does that mean vendors can start paying to advertise on the site???? Why not go straight to the source with guys contributing for the site not crap google sites just IMO

Since this site will actually be bringing in some money now, you will all have the benefit of me being more involved and updating and adding new features on a regular basis. I'm not going to monetize the site without giving you guys something back for it. |
Re: Site Commercialization
Nothing against site owner making some $ - but if youu are not clicking on the ads and do not want to see the Google ads:
If you are using IE - go to "Tools", IE Options, Security, Restricted sites, Sites and just enter *.googlesyndication.com in the add box and click "add". Refresh the page.....no more adds. ;) |

Sorry, Silver, but I can't throw a blade of grass around here without hitting another Mustang. Old ones, new ones, striped ones, rusty ones, one's in farmer's field with blades of grass growing between the bumpers and each & every owner of one thinks they are the fastest things on the face of the planet. And yes, I've owned 2: a '65 & a '66. The 65 rusted out so badly under the driver's floor I could stick my foot out of it & use it as an auxiliary brake, if needed. The '66 got whacked by a Buick driving through a red light when I still lived in Beertown. So, when I see a Mustang (& I frankly don't care if it can go 0-60 in 2.0 seconds) I just yawn & continue doing whatever the heck I'm doing. |
Re: Site Commercialization
Just so everyone knows, if you buy any sort of sponsorship you won't see the ads anymore.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
mightyjlr if you can make some money out of this more power to ya. i'm actually happy you found someone to post ad's, it just means it will help keep this forum around.
as to the ad's, i've not experienced any slowdowns on my pc. |
Re: Site Commercialization
Hey Julian, how's JC? I lived there for two years (Newport area) and I'm thinking of moving back.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
I had no Idea how this site is run but Im glad I found it . . . Thanks for handeling this for us all.
|
Re: Site Commercialization
And here I thought this Forum was the one respite from a computer screen grown smaller and smaller by advertising.
I suppose I must simply buy a bigger monitor. |
Re: Site Commercialization
What ads???
Don't see them at work or home. |
Re: Site Commercialization
Oh. Now I see them!
Guess that they are there, I just don't "see" them. |
