My wife's transplant is chronicled in a national magazine.
 

I posted this on my old SRT8 forum, so I figured I might as well post it here. I know you guys don't really know me yet, but I thought I share some bad and good fortune I've had.

Recently my non-smoking wife underwent a double-lung transplant due to a very rare and insidious disease that only affects women. A couple months ago a writer for Woman's World magazine decided to write a story on her and I think it's worth sharing.

Please keep in mind two things before reading:


1) They sensationalize a bit.

2) That picture of me makes my face look like an alien, which I am not. I look normal!



And don't be checking out my daughter, she's only 15!!

Ah Very Cool! Thats great that everything went ok. Lungs can be a pretty tricky business, no doubt. People have NO IDEA just how complex your lungs are... Transplants in general are complex for that matter. My father had a liver transplant about 10years back, and it is not something you want to go through...

I'm actually going up to minnesota here in August to the University of Minnesota Medical School to observe transplants for a week. It would be awesome if I got to see a lung transplant while I am there.. *crosses fingers*.... btw.. nice pug.

Super story.. We often hear about such miracles and then move on with our own lives. This one touches home and makes it more personal,,,,,,and real.

Miraculous. Nothing short of miraculous.

Only in America could such a story be heard. The advances in modern medical technique and care is as fascinating as it is miraculous. Not to forget the role that your God has in the matter.

This is exactly what my friend whom recruited me for the position I hold now passed away from...passed away on my birthday one year ago..while waiting for a transplant. Our company now supports the research behind this illness in his name....glad to hear it worked out for your family....

If you are ordinary, then your wife is extraordinary, that takes guts and I wish her the very best in the future.

For those that believe it could happen only in America, I think not. The first lung transplant happened in Canada in 1983 and the first double lung transplant in 1986, both here in Toronto General Hospital. There was of course no charge to the patient as is normal under our health care system.

The persons to thank are the donors and the surgeons involved. Donate your organs when you die and give somebody the chance of a longer life. It is no use taking them to the grave after your death.

After your comments here do not be a hypocrite, donate, the person you save will thank you.

You may not let anyone drive your Crossfire but let someone use your organs when you no longer have need for them.

If you have a heart, give when you die.

It is simply stunning to me that they can transplant LUNGS.

It is additionally stunning that she was "ready to go home" so quickly.

This story is truly touching and reminds us all once again that prayer & faith in The Almighty has its rewards. God does listen to our prayers.

A triple blessing for sure! Can't imagine what you and your family went through but am happy it turned out well.
