Default Should I do it??? Roadster

OK, I think I know the answer but taking the leap to be a 2fer XFire owner, although very tempting, needs to be vetted with the Forum first.

I have a 04 SSB Coupe which I love. Only 19K on the clock. I've had it a little over a year.

I've been searching for a roadster. I found a deal (mistaken listing in price by dealer) on an Aero Blue 05 Roadster, 1 owner, with 71K on the clock. It's a limited, has Navigation and is an automatic. Seems to be in really good condition (I'm going to look at it tonight). I can get it for $12K. Yes, $12K -- with loaner program and 5 oil changes included. Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes. I'd preferr a red one, but other than that I'd say it's hard to pass up. Most I've seen listed are in th e$14 to close to $17K price range for this year, mileage etc.

Help!!! I have a son in college. I shouldn't but it's going to be hard not to...........

ditto on what Kim said.
Also 'has navigation' - what a super plus, you don't have to listen to the radio or CD anymore with that feature ......

Good point. Not likely to use it, but boy what an added value item

Hope all checks out. Plan to go look at it tonight.

No question m friend.....GO

$12K gives you a budget for minor repairs and upgrades. As for the miles, would you consider a Benz with 70K to be worn out? No of course not.

Steal the thing. and if it lets you down, force yourself to drive that old beater '04 coupe model.

The only thing better than having a second Xfire is that it be a roadster.

GO.....GO ..............GO

enoy.

roadster with a stick

BTW,,,,did I just agree with Kimpossible........... again?

Also, what Kim said....nothing like being topless. I have the NAV unit too, and comes in handy.

Not yet, but I'm still actively considering and looking. The one I went and looked at was in a little rougher shape than I expected. That being said, the price was still really good. I like the blue but I really want a red one so I've been looking and comparing this to a few others in the near vincinity. I found a couple red ones --- one with only 8K miles on it, one owner and looks really good. It's at a dealer and it's priced at more than I want to spend but I have to say compared to others I've seen, the dealer pricing is way more competitive than some with higher miles etc.

If it's still there in a few weeks, I may go back and take a shot at an even lower offer and see if they bite. So, it ain't over yet...........

I noticed that Brew just purchased a red roadster. I checked the dealership where he bought it and they retailed it at $14,995. I'm sure that's not what he paid for it but, just to give you an idea of the mileage to price ratio! Have fun searching!
Brought home a 2005 Roadster with 7,700 miles.

Thanks. That's really nice and with same mileage and price range as the one here in my area. Lower mileage would be a plus but my goal is a decent car (that won't be too much work to bring it up to my standards) at a great price. I think I can get this aero blue for between 11K and 12K. It only has 71K miles on it so it's still a puppy in my mind. A few scratches, a small hole in the leather (they said they would fix) and a good cleaning, claybar, polishing, etc and it will be up to snuff. I have a pretty pristine coupe so this one doesn't have to be perfect, but knowing me I'll try and get it close..............

If I can find a red one for a similar price, I'd likely jump on it.

Prices on our little babies are going up big time. We just had a 2005 White Roadster with grey interior & 30+k on the clock sell for $13900 at the Ocoee Auto Auction. That is one of the biggest auctions in the world. That is a wholesale price!!! I told my dealer that stayed in the bidding until 13500 that I thought the money was too strong on that one, but it will drive up the MMR on these cars. Black Book & NADA will folllow. I think that prices are going to hold strong on all used cars for at least another year. I won't bore you with all the car biz trends that give me that year mark but I think its pretty solid. I can tell you that the book on my SRT has gone up almost 2k since I bought it June 10, 2011. That is nuts!!

Just from my searching I've seen our beloved cars (and other used cars) prices rebound. My 04 SSB limited coupe eems to be valued at about 1K - 2 more than what I paid for it last year (and that is for higher mileage vehicle than what I have [19K miles]).

BTW, car Biz never bores me........ so I'm always happy to have an experts input on just about anything related.

PNA,

I haven't noticed any owners of higher mileage cars chime in. My 05 Limited Roadster is now at 78K. I've put 5K of that on the car. It had some very minor problems when I bought it, but collectively, parts maintenance so far add up to less than the two rear tires I just put on.

I think mine would compare favorably with an 8K mile Crossfire, both cosmetically and in how it performs. I had a higher price/ lower mileage target when I started looking, but am so glad I did not pass on this one.

My point, finally, is not to be concerned simply because the milage is high. It may simply be that the PO understood what the car was intended for.

Good luck!

Michael
