Forum rules are not applied equally

How is it that we have a member selling items for a profit in forums other than the one prescribed?

How is it that he has got away with it for so long without any of the other mods complaining or moving those threads to the one that is designated for that business?

It implies that there is one rule for mods and another for the those without any power to subject any post to censorship or that we are all at liberty to post items for sale in those same forums that this person uses.

Let's all post items for sale wherever we want and see how far that goes.

I have complained directly to mods and been told that it is up to this as yet unnamed moderator to move his selling threads to a suitable forum. The suitable forum according to the rules is the Vendor Classifieds, that would mean that a Forum Commercial sponsorship would have to be paid for. Maybe that is one of the reasons why no changes are made, that and some people do not wish to upset someone, that someone is of course the moderator ANDREW.

Maybe the complaint has to be made higher in chain of command. Maybe the complaint has to go to the owners who are not getting the extra money.

This vendor had a Crossfire but currently does not have one so the main interest is making money or he is doing it for the betterment of the forum. What do you think it is?

Following are the rules to posting in the classified forums

Private Classifieds
The "Private Classifieds" forum is for private sellers offering the sale of individual items. It is NOT for any person, company or business of any size or type (including salvage yards and used parts companies) to sell merchandise of any retail nature or to make a profit.

Vendor Classifieds
In order to post in this forum you must be a Forum Commercial Sponsor, or a Forum Super Commercial Sponsor. If you are not a commercial sponsor you will need to buy a sponsorship to create new threads in this section.

I would not care if the threads were moved to the Private Classifieds, but they should not be where they are now; this is taking advantage of the the power that mods have and bending the rules towards their own and that is just not right.

Dave, I'm afraid this will fall on deaf ears or get deleted.

So you mean I really shouldn't have had to pay the fee I did to become a "Forum Super Sponsor" to sell my SRT6 Supercharger Emblems?

Sorry Steve you're not the "exception"

Re: Forum rules are not applied equally

No fees are or forum sponsorship is required to sell items as a private seller in the Private Classifieds
Andrew is a private seller not a vendor
He makes emblems for Crossfire owners but it not a commercial business and is non profit.
It is more a sideline hobby to continue to provide decals for this community.

Forum Sponsorship

There are two different sponsorship options for people who are interested.
All the sponsorship options come with some benefit to the members of the forum who choose to use them.
Here are the details:

click>>
Forum Sponsor - $20/yr
  • You are designated a Forum Sponsor
  • Your username is made bold
  • Your private message storage is increased and you can message 10 members at a time instead of 5
  • The majority of advertisements are removed from the site
click >>Forum Super Sponsor - $40/yr
  • You are designated a Forum Super Sponsor
  • Your username is made bold and underlined
  • You can send longer pager messages
  • Your private message storage is increased and you can message 20 members at a time instead of 5
  • Your profile picture can now be 200x200 instead of 100x100
  • Your avatar size can now be 120x120 pixels instead of 80x80
  • You can make your own custom User Title (shown under your username)
  • The majority of advertisements are removed from the site
  • You are allowed to advertise your business or products you are selling in your signature as long as it isn't specifically selling Crossfire or automotive products

Thanks for the clarification Gary, can you explain why his threads haven't been moved to the Private Classified section?

Sorry Valk this is a BS answer and you know it. You quote the very rule that is being broken, it is a political answer that is meant to deflect any criticism towards you, other mods and Andrew. You may not want to ruffle feathers but I don't care; do what you should do or declare a conflict of interest.

The posts should be in the Private classifieds at the least. I do not see how the rules are avoided by the profit or no profit argument. If they were in the classifieds I would not complain.
If I was a member who had paid the fee to sell in the classifieds then I would demand my money back.

The old saying is "Whats sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander".

I will forward my complaint to the owners of this forum, obviously there is no satisfaction to be gained here.

Simple answer, one rule for us and one rule for them.

When this thread gets deleted, will our post count be reduced?

Non Profit? I would like hear that explanation. He hasn't owned a Crossfire for years.... ah nevermind...

Maybe we can complain enough... and Andrew will decide on another retirement plan..

Then no one will get custom graphics again.

Carry on.

No.. I can overlook trivial matters over the big picture. That is the real point you missed.

That I cant explain, but as a courtesy to a mod who has been here much longer than myself I sent Andrew a PM regarding this and am waiting to see his response.

I do agree with the majority here that ALL sale threads belong in the private classifieds.
I'm not sure why onehundred80 is so bent on the fact that they are not though but I respect the inquiry.

I bought my decals many years ago and recall Andrew saying that this is not a profitable thing to him and he just enjoys being able to provide to the community.
I have no reason to question his integrety and I am pleased that long after he has sold his Crossfire he is still here providing the decals for anyone who wants to purchase them.

I'd like to be thought of as a moderator for all the people here but I'm sure there will always someone to criticize how I attempt to do this.

The owner is IB Nolan and I suggest any complaints about me to be directed to him.

Thank You, Gary

I cannot see how I have complained about your actions here now or ever, that is far from my intent and if you see that in my posts I humbly apologize. You have done far more here than I ever could and have personally done me many favors for which I am grateful.

If the member has been here ten minutes or ten years the rules should apply equally.

Had Mother Theresa been selling bibles here to get funds for orphans I would have expected her to post in the proper forum. You do agree with that as you have said so why do we have exceptions?

Re: Forum rules are not applied equally

Here Dave... chew on mine too.. Since I have been "selling" the multi tool out of a standard thread. Even though that seems to be the most viewed thread on the subject.

Gary , I have no issues with you, nor do I ever expect to. The issue is with Andrew and him thumbing his nose at the forum rules. This isn't the first time this issue has been raised and Andrew knows about it and chooses to do as he pleases, anyone else would have been banned.
