Question seat heater button flashing???

I drove my car to work last night, and when I went out to start it, and turn on the seat heaters to high, both lights would just flash as long as the button was held down. They would stay on, on the low setting though? can it be too cold for them to kick in on high it was right around zero degrees, and the car had sat there for 7.5 hrs, before started. After about 20 minutes, it would switch to high and stay on, both sides did this. I am also wondering about the wiring for the bottom and back units. Ever since I had my system installed, the bottoms don't work. both sides stopped working at the same time. Thanks, chris
too late to take it back to the install shop now!

yep, I found that out my first winter. They need to be warmed up a bit before they'll turn on high, so just sit there on the cold seat, let them warm a bit with your body heat and on low. Doesn't really take that long, just needs a bit to warm up first. Just a quirk I guess. Believe there is a plug-in under the seat, so check to make sure it is tightly seated. I'd still take it in if they didn't work-why not?

I'll confirm it. Zero D-Degrees t-this m-m-m-morning, no high heat. Run low for about a minute, High will come on. Something to do with conductivity of heater wires when that cold. I think.

This has to be the coldest damm winter since Al Gore found out he wasn't the next President.

I had the same problem with my seat switches also ! went to the dealer and showed them a vidio I took of the switches doing the blinking, so between them replacing the battery and the seat heater controll module, it has not done it since then, but yes these are the only seat heaters I've seen that your butt has to pre-warm the grid, and start off in low posistion first. On another note, I just bought an aftermarket one for my Durango for $20.00 and it works better than our heaters do.

I confirm all the above.
When the car is really cold your keister has to do the warming first before the 'high' setting wil stay on.
When it gets REALLY cold (double digit below zero days) then the darn things won't stay on at all.
On those days I just let the car run for 5 minutes or so & then, voila', you can obtain 'Lo'.

Boy what happened to the days of vinyl seats and cold weather. In those days, we had fleece and wool covers on the seats and I still remember the blankets in the back seats to keep warm as a kid. Oh I almost forgot my college days with rotten out holes in the floor boards in the winter. Oh I guess we need or is it want something to complain about. Seat warmers ????? Does anyone remember when heaters and A/C was an option?

Yep, its cold for sure, mine does that if its anything below -20 Celsius, whatever that is in Fahrenheit. 5 seconds on low and then it works fine...

Interesting. I guess it never gets that cold in Long Island where I live or in Brooklyn where I work because I've never had where I had to put them on low before putting them on high.
