Cup holder?
From photos, it looks like the cup holder in the Limited model fits right in the little console cubby-hole space of the base model... right? Just wondering if I can replace the cubby-hole in my base model roadster with a cup holder and are they year specific... anyone?
Thanks |
Re: Cup holder?
I bet that you could but those cupholders are probably the worst designed feature in the car.. I would be happy to take your bin if you want to try and get my cupholder to work again! My solution is an aftermarket cup holder in the arm rest compartment.. and that way its also not in the way of the shifter

Re: Cup holder?
Thanks... kind of thought that might be the case and the bin does comes in handy for my phone! Will take your suggestion and look for another option.
Thanks again! |
Re: Cup holder?
Rayth has it pegged correctly. there is no functioning cup holder in a Crossfire. There is a device which will puncture you styrafoam cups, or you elbow if you shift while driving. As a cup holder, it is useless.
On the other hand, your bin is prized for it's utility. Go to Walmart and get an aftermarket cup holder. Then you can decide which is worse, driving while talking on the cell phone or dropping hot coffee into your lap:rolleyes: |

Thanks You really must be fond of aggravation if you want a cup holder though. Some pop up too easily and some not nearly so easily, my 2004 was OK and my 2005 popped up after trying hard, I got rid of both cup holders and added a bin. Try here for a bin. Part number 1BQ12XDVAA |

Bell/Wedge cup holder (05591-8) | Cup Holder and Mugs | AutoZone.com
This is what I use. It fits between the center console and the seat when Im driving by myself. When both seats are occupied it fits in the back pouch between the seat's headrest. Before that. my wife was my "cupholder" |
Re: Cup holder?
Same thing I use, except I got mine from Dollar General for $2, cut the bottom part off and used a 90 degree piece of aluminum to permanently mount it to the bulkhead between the seats using the existing hardware.

Re: Cup holder?
This one fits perfectly in the center console.. its a little awkward reaching back to grab your cup or whatever but the console also closes fully when you're not using it so its the option I went with.. |

Here is a cup holder that folds flat when you are not using it and can be mounted on the right side of the console. You can still open the glove box with a mug in the holder. I found this one at Camper World. It is about 3 1/2 inches square.

Hello all, I just am in the process of turning the pull out ashtray into a cup holder. It took me longer than I had hoped, just waiting for the paint to dry on it. looks like the regular pull out ash try when not in use and operates the same way. I cut out the right side of the tray and put in a fold out ring, I'll post picks when complete. I am also installing dark cherry dash overlay, and moving the center console switches to the arm rest so I can install gauges in the current location of the switches. As well I am putting in antique white gauges with blue back lighting (LEDs). I had a number of antique white gauge overlays made up (SRT-6). My SRT-6 is from the U.S. originally, since I am in Canada (metric) the overlays have the main speed ring in Km/h, but the secondary miles/hr ring has good size numbers on it as well, and the odometer is labeled as Mile/hr. If anyone is interested in the overlays, I would be willing to part with them for reasonable price. I have and extra gauge cluster pod (miles/hour U.S.) that reads about 76,000 miles that I will be selling off to an interested party.

Gray plastic tasse car suv folding drink coffee CUP HOLDER usa made universal | eBay I worked at a company that made molds for plastic parts, we made a set of molds to make drinking glasses for Rubbermaid in Wooster, Ohio. One day I saw them on a local stores shelf with made in Canada on the box. I asked one of my contacts at Rubbermaid when were the molds up here to make these parts, he said the mold had never left their plant, how come it says made in Canada I asked. He said maybe the boxes were made in Canada but parts made in the US or Canada could be said to have been made in the other country, if they had plants in both countries. Maybe that was how the Crossfire slipped into North America as a US made car. |
Re: Cup holder?
I / we are the proud owners of two of the worst cup holders in the world!
The very first thing my lovely bride did upon purchasing her beautiful 6 last month was not to license it in our state to appease the government gods. NO! She first purchased utility bin online and demanded I remove the ridiculous cup holder immediately. At the same time she also purchased a rather useful cup holder from fleabay that mounts to the heat / air vents on the dash. I asked he why she didn't buy me one of those cool cup holders too? |
