I can't seem to get my airbag...

I am sure this has been asked and dealt with a million times, but I can seem to find it.

I need to remove my steering wheel and I got some directions from here and started. I was able to bet the screws loss for the air bag by turning the wheel left then right. Put it straight and unhooked the battery. After the wait time I go to unscrew the rest of the way and both screws now just spin free with no tension to remove or tighten. Did I break something? The screws were not that tight and i used my hand screw driver. There was tension when I started but now the just sping free and after an hour I give up. Am I suppose to pry up the air bag now or something?

Let me know what I am doing wrong, as I am worried about breaking a wire or a harness.

 Did you use a Torx 30 screwdriver?

Right on, not a #27 or a #25 only a #30. Anything else and you are in trouble as the smaller sizes ruin the socket edges in the screw head.
Use of a Phillips screwdriver is also a no go. If you used a Phillips then maybe a Torx may still fit, try the 30 first then the next smallest one.
The screws are not that tight and maybe able to be removed using something that jams in the socket of the screw. Someone did just that some years ago and succeeded, maybe they can add the solution. Someone from Murf I think.

Put a good strong magnet against the shaft of the screwdriver and see if you can pull the screws out.

Thanks All. I had to make the steering wheel telescope all the way up to get my longest and thinnest T-30 in and break them free. I think the screw driver I started with was just too short and thick and I was hearing the TORX-30 rubbing the top of the screw. I was then able to drop it back, unhook the battery overnight and finish the install this morning. I was changing the turn signal switch cluster. I got a quote from a shop of 800 parts and labor. I was able to get the part on E-Bay for 140ish and 2 hours to make the change. Everything seems to be working so I hope the money I saved won’t result in the steering wheel coming off or a sudden airbag problems, hahahaha.
:)

My airbag rides in the passenger seat. I have found no way to prevent it from exploding if :
1. I drive too fast.
2. I take a corner too fast.
3. I stop too fast.
4. I follow too close.
5. I get too close to the edge or middle of the road.
6. I play the music too loud.

I found it best to just leave it at home.......

Fight ? There is NEVER a fight. In 41 years of marriage, I have never won a fight, therefore there are no longer any fights.
Repeat after me " "YES DEAR"
