Founder resignation

Dur to total and dismal response to cruises etc since the Newport cruise I am resigning as a founder of NEX. Three people can not do this alone and the lack-luster responses showing no interest by the membership at large tells us only one thing...why waste your time and efforts.

Anyone wanting an informal cruise feel free to contact me I am always up for a run.

Nightrider,
I'm sorry to hear your club may go away and I understand your pain. I am involved in a club (CTC) and look forward every month to our GTG's and I know it is hard to keep the members involved. I am sure being the founder of the club it is not pleasant to make the statement you posted. I have to say thanks to a couple of guys in our club Bill F (the founding member) and FTroopChief, they like you work hard to keep the club alive.

Hang in there brother!

Thanx. I know the economy sux and a million excuses. We had a great corps but I get tired of begging for particioation. BTW CTC was our inspiration. Will be glad to re-join should the situation change.

I understand your pain. We had more members show up when the gas prices were higher. Now that it is cheaper to make a run, they don't show up. I think the same thing happened to the Houston club. The only thing we can do is keep cranking along and get new members with some ambition. Car clubs are for people who want to meet people and have fun. If they're not having fun, what is the point of them being in a club?

You guys are great. I know first hand how tough it is to get a club off the ground. BillF, I agree. Belonging to a club is all about enthusiasm. With out it, it won't work.

Hats off to all of you.

Re: Founder resignation

Too bad no one has connections where we could have a national X-fi (or 2 door sports car) meet..say a central location like Misouri at an abandoned airport/air base et. Spend a 3 or 4 day weekend out there and do time trials and fun and frolic maybe even have a Solstice melt. It would be in-expensive, enjoyable etc. But as with CTC and NEX try getting people off their duffs (with a few notable exceptions)...if you noticed we don't even have responses...I am sorry to cop an attitude, yet last year we had 2 great runs (Newport & Cape) before mid-May now we can't even get a response to feelers...sad. Maybe we should think National even a group meetup at Carlisle. I will work with ANYONE to make this happen. There are alot of great people on this forum and by the private forum mail I've recieved and the response to posting from CTC...how can we make something happen? Plenty of time beore Labor Day..as I said...I'm game.

Anyone else feel this way contact me either open forum or forum mail.

There is a number of us meeting at Carlise this year. It will be the first annual CICCI national meeting, but everyone is welcome.

For next year we are thinking about a more central location, like Missouri to make it more accessible to all.

Please join us.

The semi-annual Dragon is always open to everyone and I promise the drive would be worth it (I think anyone who has attended will attest to that). It is fairly central to the eastern US anyway and is 3 days of crossfire bliss.

I don't think we could ever have too many show up there. Give us a try in April.......;)

Everytime I get to speak to another Crossfire owner, I tell them about the wonderful time and drive it is at Fontana. It is a weekend filled with great people with a passion in common.

Re: Founder resignation

Nightrider, I know that it must break your heart that you are "resigning" but and for good reason- I think that PAULW put it great this past weekend at our CTC G2G- there are the Crossfire drivers that are totally into their cars and then there at the people that are in it for the novelty- a fast, great looking, smoking hot car- but then that feeling changes and it becomes just "a car".
I am not fond of people blaming the economy for their problems, nor do I feel that it should be used as any sort of excuse as to not attending or participating in a group- expecially a Crossfire. If you can afford to put gas in the baby and still go out for a lunch- then why aren't ya at the G2G? (But that is my HO)

There was mention in one post about a National G2G- which I think would be AWESOME! A few years back we were memebers of a Mustang Club that had a National meet up in Galveston. It was the coolest thing in the world! They had aprox. 65 cars show up, from Canada, California and Pensylvania! It was a 3 day affair- Dyno day, track day and beach cruise. There was even Police escorts to and from all locations so that we all could be together! Imagine traveling down I45- going 110 just tring to keep up with the police cruizer leading!!!

So there is my $0.02, sorry to hear about your local guys being, well, stupid.

It is tough enough trying to get members to show up for a local let alone a national. If they can't make a GTG driving a few miles, how they going to drive hundreds of miles? it may be a waste of energy. By the way I don't think it should be the Founder resigning from the club, it should be those who don't participate.

Sorry, I really didn't mean to hijack this thread but felt I needed to address the question/statement raised.

Nightrider,
I think I know how ya feel.
I to make efforts to get the Chi-town guys together and usually have 7 - 12 attend but the desire to have bigger turn outs is always here.
I always make the most of every meet when we get together.
Although we have never become a club, that to would be a cool thing but I just don't see enough interest in our area to accomplish this.

Hang in there....thing can change.

Gary

Interesting that more non members of NEX have replied then members.
I have been in contact with bruce many times over trying to get things going around here. I even got blown off for a christmas party gtg.
Limited replies to even a poll I started asking members what they wanted to do to get them to show up.

Always the same core people doing the work and trying to get things done. Now if I could just get them to wait for my car to be on the road I could attend a few more spring happenings.:D

Bruce I will be at Carllisle this year as I always am. If you want to do something we will talk on March 1.

Ya, it was a bumber about the Cristmas GTG. Put it is a time of the season when people were dooing holiday stuff with their family. NEX will never be close to a priority for some folks.
