From dealer a new 3rd brake light is $360 but the light is out of stock. If yours' is not working you can get it fixed by going to www.ledfix.com. I shipped mine in a tube from UPS and included a return label. With the tube the total for shipping is about $45. That was from Richmond KY to shop near Nashville TN. You will need to contact the shop for price of fix and that may depend on what's wrong inside the light. The shop goes in through the back of the light, the side under the spoiler on a convertible, and then they patch the plastic which doesn't look bad.

Did you take the light out.........or did a shop take it out?

I took it off. It's fairly simple on the convertible.

Tools you need. To take off the plastic cover inside the trunk lid I used a nail puller to remove the plastic pop rivots. Then you'll need a flexible screw driver with hex tip to remove the screw that hold the child safety handle and the five screws that hold the 3rd brake light on.

LEDFIX is great. I got a quote from my dealer for $ 550 just for a new light. (mental note - don't go to that dealer)

I cut down an old golf club box and sent it to them usps 2 day for $ 6 . The return postage is included in the price.

600$ insurance would have been 9$ but I packed it very well and skipped it.

Glad this forum exists.

btw very very easy to take off a roadster - about 10 mins.

I had LEDfix do the job for me, great service. If you have a permanent wing in the back (SRT model) it's a bit more work, but it's not that hard to figure out what to do. Unfortunately, the five screws that hold the light in place are Torx rather than Phillips just to piss you off.

On the web site, it looks like between $124 & $149 including shipping.
They don't quote a price specifically for the XF Roadster, best to call them.

Anyone have instructions how to remove the plastic trim housing to access the 3rd brake light on a base coupe? Thanks!;)
