Northern Virginia Owners
I'm noticing a lot more Crossfires in the Herndon and Chantilly areas. If you are one of these people, or live somewhere else in Northern Virginia, please reply and say hello!
I will be going to James Madison University this fall for college...but the Crossfire will not be coming along with me until the spring semester or next school year. JMU is located in Harrisonburg. Anyone know of any good driving roads in the area?

If you do this on a weekend, I strongly suggest hitting the US-250 segment early in the morning (before 9 or 10 am). US-250 west snakes up and down three mountains, and there's not a lot of room to pass, so the earlier the better to avoid any other traffic.
We did most of this route on last year's "Mountain Run Cross Up."
Here's a good question...in Virginia, there are signs on the highway that say "speed enforced by aircraft." Is this really true? Has anyone been ticketed by aircraft? Or is this just a way of threatening motorists?
Air surveillance is not common, but it is used occasionally on the interstates. There was an article in the newspapers a couple of years ago describing the surveillance. I wouldn't spend a lot of time looking up in the sky, though. The bigger problem in Virginia is that radar detectors are illegal, and the state police use mobile instant-on radar. Not to mention undercover cars. It used to be all you had to look for were rooftop bubblegum machines and Crown Vics. Now literally any recent-model car, SUV, or truck could be an undercover police car, especially in the populous areas like Fairfax County. I can't speak for the more remote areas; perhaps someone else can.
You can find me cruising to/from Annandale, VA and The Woods, WV on the weekends...lots of great back roads and curves to hug in WV.
