Pacifica input.
I'd like to know who has owned (or owns) a Chrysler Pacifica and how you liked (like) it. Was it reliable? How many miles have you put on it? Etc.
Since moving to MI, it appears that I may need another 4WD or AWD vehicle. Last spring I drove a Pacifica and really liked it. We came across a good deal on a 4Runner and bought it instead.
I was scared to buy a Chrysler for everyday use. I had a 1995 Jeep Wrangler that killed me with trouble. I bought it new and within 86,000 miles I had to put 3 transmissions in it. Chrysler knew about the problem with the 4 cyl model transmissions (1987-1995, faulty oil slinger), but never did anything. My Dad has had 2 late 90's LHS's and has had quite a bit of trouble with them too. Basically I told myself I would never buy another Chrysler product. Last month I bought the SRT6 though. Since it will not be driven much - I wasn't too worried about reliability, etc. Daily drivers are a different story though.
We have had wonderful luck with Hondas and Toyotas, but I really like the Pacifica and they lose their value pretty quick which makes them a good used buy.
Any help is appreciated.

RPM, I can't speak for the Pacifica, but in my past experience, I'd have to say go with Honda. Their automatics are their weakest link, but if you keep their tranny fluid changed on a regular basis, you should be OK.
I know in their cars, it's easier to change than the engine oil.

I have not owned a Pacifica so cannot speak from personal experience but I do have a friend who has had one and he loves the thing...not at all any problems with it but again I have not owned one myself.
I've had 5 Grand Cherokee's, a Wrangler, a Liberty, a 300M and my XF roadster since 1990 and will swear by Chrysler products. I too like the Pacifica but a used car is a used car and you never know if it was used or abused and that can't be Chryslers fault. Your rationale about getting a good deal on a used one is probably right but I'd shop for a good lease deal.
I wouldn't waste my money on a used car, when many Chrysler dealerships are practically giving away brand new PT cruiser for $9,000. That's about what you'll end up paying in repair cost on a used POS and you get a 7/75 warrantee for $9,000 wow!
RPM,
My wife and I own a 2006 AWD Pacifica Limited and we have been very happy with it. Not a single mechanical problem and nearly 30,000 miles on the odometer. Yes, we do a lot of driving. My kids love the second row seats and the entertainment package. We were able to get the car for well under MSRP and the deals have gotten even sweeter in the last few months. If you have any more specific questions feel free to PM me.

My Aunt has one and the only problem she's had is with the tire sensors, but they fixed that problem after the first year model. I'd say go for it, they really are fun to drive.

The body-color fascia makes all the difference in the world, IMO. The 19 inch wheels are a nice addition as well. We traded in our 2004 Pacifica for this 2006 Limited. We don't regret it at all.

Can't say nothing but good things about the Pacifica. We have a '05 Limited with 36,000 and it's going strong. We have the red color with the add on silver fascias front and back. I also ordered the chrome trim for the black areas 42 pcs. looks sharp.
If you check the recalls and TSB's it has the lowest of any of the Chryslers. One note get the chrome stock wheels they are nicer than the alloy painted ones.

juke3w1,
I noticed that you are from Florida. What part? We are having a get-together on 17 March in Orlando and currently have 16 Crossfires scheduled to attend. If you are interested in attending or would like more information, go to the Southeast Forum of the Regional Forums section.

Hi Kevin,
I'm in Bartow Not far from Orlando. Yes I saw the posts and would love to go but I'm having my second back surgery on Feb. 27th. and I don't think I could melt myself in my baby by that time.
I go to old town alot with my old vette we should get others sometime and invade the place with XF's. I know alot of people there and they wouldn't mind as long as you keep it clean.
Again I would love to meet you guys but just not able that soon.
Thanks,
Fred

Thanks for the input guys.
I think I am going to hold out for the redesigned Toyota Sequoia that should be coming out in 2008 or 2009. I went and looked at a new Tundra this weekend and was really impressed. I just need the SUV version.
Thanks again.
