I'm gettin the bug

My Viper has only been gone for a little over a month and I'm already starting to look for something a little different to take its place.
Just came across this tonight.
1969 AMC SS AMX , AMX-1 , HURST , SUPER STOCK, MUSCLE CAR | eBay

Nice Mike, very interested piece of racing history. If you do it, I hope it doesn't just sit around like the Viper did!

See you this weekend. James

Mike, You can bring it to the 22nd Annual All-Amc Day at Mason-Dixon Dragway next year. We had a great turnout, about 16 AMX's, some pro-stock gremlins lots of great AMC cars. You would have really enjoyed the car show and the racing. Ron

Mike, when I got the bug, I literally got one..:p

That's a nice ride you're looking at. I hope it works out for you. I didn't realize they were going for that much.

Only the 52, 1969 Hurst Super Stock AMX's bring that kind of money.
Like James pointed out, it's just what I need, another car parked in the garage that I never drive.
Being a Super Stock car, it comes with no title, just a bill of sale.
If I got it, and wanted to drive it and show it, I'd have to get a car hauler trailer, and a truck big enough to pull the whole travelling road show.
I think I'm just going to enjoy the one I have and be satisfied with it.
Ron, give me a heads up for next years get together, it sounds like a lot of fun.

Just register it in Alabama! If it has a VIN, 4 wheels and a horn, they'll give you a tag!

Here in Clay County, all you need is proof of ownership and the VIN. They don't care about wheels and horns.

Hey Mike,

Just stumbled upon this post and thought I'd give you my input... So a while back I posted up a few cars I was looking into and I'll have you know I didn't buy any of them.... I did however, buy a Mazda miata with 103000 miles on it for 2200 bucks:D. As of Thursday I have about 6 grand in it suspension tires and wheels roll cage brakes exhaust not a lot of money but the fun I have had with this car at the autocross events in the summer months is just out of this world! The cornering grip this car has puts a mile wide smile across my face. This summer I'm thinking about building an autocross mustang the prices are coming down and the power to weight ratio is spot on! The aftermarket for the mustang is pretty much limitless as well. Im not sure what you are into these days but on paper running 2 weekends a month for 9 months icy weather permitting it cost me 1300 bucks in fuel, maintenance, and entry fees. I got into the group through Penn State Behrend in Erie and a good friend of mine is a chemist for Dunlop tires so he keeps me in the loop of events too. The people don't care what you run and most would rather see a man with a million miles behind the wheel of a neon than a brand new 100k corvette tearing up their parking lot... I love it consider it! I promise you won't regret it!

Jerrid you make a good case, since I still have a rust free, red 50k mile 1 owner Miata parked in my Barn. I'd hate to chop it up for racing though. I'm pretty sure there are several other forum members here on the forum that have done it though. They really do make great track cars.
I'm glad to hear you didn't buy any of those big buck cars Jerrid, there's plenty of time to pick up one of those later on after the major depreciation takes its toll. (That is if you still want one).;)
I really enjoyed my Viper, but after the Crossfire showed up, I realized it was the perfect "New Car" for me, (just like I did 43 years ago with my AMX).
On that note, I plan on getting my AMX back on the road this summer. It's an automatic, and it may be the only car I'll be able to drive. Since my surgery, I haven't been able to use my right arm, so driving a manual is impossiible. Hopefully by the time the weather breaks, I'll be able to shift again.
