Default An eerily similar car

There was another car with a Pentastar which was:

1. Made in Europe;
2. Had a non-Chrysler engine;
3. Assembled by an unaffiliated coachbuilder;
4. A sports car;
5. Primarily marketed in the U.S.;
6. Sat only two people; and
7. Was a blast to drive.

My other sports car, picture attached in first reply.

The last ones were part of Chrysler, had drivetrains from a different manufacurer, and were axed.

And what TV show had the star drive up in a Cobra in the first show, a Tiger for the next, and an Alpine for the rest ?

In the pilot show, I'm pretty sure Maxwell drove a Ferrari.
Most of the shows he drove a Tiger.
I remember seeing him drive up in a Karmann Ghia too.
And last but not least, an Opel GT.

I've always felt the Tiger and the Crossfire, especially the SRT6 had a lot in common.

Well at least in an XF you do not have to pull the carpet to change the rear spark plugs (and it has more).

ps possible I was mixing Maxwell and Honey West.

Well they both have V engines and rear wheel drive and are two seaters. XF has more HP and is faster but if you replace the 2bbl on the Tiger with a 600 cfm Holley and a decent cam that can change. Of course the bitty tires are not so easy to fix.

That said I always liked the late ones with the reduced finage.

I'm pretty sure there body design never changed.
And yes, like anything, throw enough money at it, and it could run the 1/4 mile beside a "Stock" SRT6.

Maybe that's why Dave compared it to the SRT6.
With wider tires, they handled pretty well too.

You can have a lot in common without being the same or even close to the same car. I was thinking more on the lines that the Tiger's introduction; only the enthusiasts knew what the Tiger was, only later, years after it's birth, when it's outstanding performance and uniqueness truly came to life, did it's name become a household word in the automotive world. I believe you can compare the SRT6 to at least the early stages of the Tiger recognition, now if the SRT6 gains the respect the Tiger enjoys in it's future, who knows, I would guess it has what it takes to give it a run.

But that is just my opinion on a car I like. You don't have to pick it apart, I'm not trying to convince anyone.

Wasn't pickin it apart Dave, I just didn't know exactly what you meant. Now I do.
Most people don't understand why I feel the way I do about the Crossfire, some do. Like you, it's just my opinion.

More, the Alpine in Dr. No. never really cared for fins unless absurd (59 Caddy)
.

BTW back in the glory days I ran against some prepared C/P Tigers (SCCA usually ran A, B, & C/P together, sometimes more but couldn't go much lower except on tight courses. That said a well prepared/driven D/P Stinker often could embarass nearly everyone. And that flat six on trombones sounded sooo nice.

However the real Tiger problem was that in production class the wheel size was limited and whelwell mods were right out so they were distinctly tire limited.

Meanwhile my FI B/P vette was the cheapest car I could race particularly when Detroit and Schwartz Creek were nearby. However a background in Corvairs made my style somewhat squirrelish & was hard to pass when the passee is at a 45 degree angle and taking up all of the track. And then the straights, 2/3s of the way through the turn & I was already in straight line configuration/acceleration just going a bit sideways.

I was thinking the Twin Cam Chrysler TC, a car I considered on the way to getting my SRT6.

I don't even remember the Ghia, but just looked at a youtube clip, and there it was, a nice shiny blue one. One of the ugliest cars ever made, IMHO.

I owned a '67 Mk Ia Tiger for 18 yrs. Loved the car. Thought about adding the pentastar emblem to the rt side of my SRT 6, just like the Tiger had.

Naah, until you have seen a Daimler SP250 you have not seen ugly. And a Spahn Cruiser goes beyond Ugly. Both from 1957 which was otherwise a good car year.

It's an aquired taste.
But the design was originally used on a Chrysler "concept" car, and VW decided to run with it.
