i can't imagine anyone surviving, let alone a passenger, only thing salvageable is maybe the rear left tire and the rear lights?

that is terrible; i'm sure the drivers side door was removed to extract a driver and not part of the wreck, but its still unreal. can you imagine what kind of speed is required to do that -- wow.

He must have lost traction in a high-speed corner or possibly by swerving to avoid something (like another car going at a reasonable speed) because the car was in a skid when it smacked the tree. Notice that neither driver's side airbag deployed! He must have completely overwhelmed the ESP.
