100k Miles!!
 

I've just reached a "Milestone" of sorts. For the first time I've crossed the 100,000 mile mark in a car that I purchased brand new. I've owned it for 5 yrs. 7 mos.
My '02 Honda Civic LX coupe 5-spd. rolled over 100k yesterday. It's not the first time I've crossed the 100k barrier in one of my cars, just none that I've owned from the beginning.
Everything still operates like day one.
No unusual wear on the fabric seats, or broken plastic interior parts.
No rust on the body, or head light fogging. :rolleyes: I've even waxed it a few times. :)
Actually, I haven't had any issues with it what so ever, and it's never been back to the dealer for any service at all.
Sometimes I even get better than 40 MPG with it, at highway speeds.

The only things that I've replaced on it is:

4 tires
1 air filter
2 wiper blades
24 oil filters
84 qts. of oil
3,125 gal. of gas
10 gal. of windshield washer fluid.

Is it any wonder I recommend Honda's to everybody?
I wonder if I'll be able to speak as highly of my Crossfire after 100k miles?
Maybe not, but I bet I'll have some more exciting memories, that's for sure. ;)

Hondas are great cars.
I put 130,000+ on a '97 Prelude and my '01 Accord has 90,000 on it (both with little or no issues - knock on wood).
We have a Toyota too, but we feel that Honda makes a better car.

You guys are light weights. :p I put 250K miles on my 1987 Volvo, and when I sold it, it still ran like it had 40K miles, no rust, no dings, no rattles. Sold it for $3,600 after 15 years.

I can say the same for my Toyota 4Runner. It's a '98 with 127k miles and runs as if it was off the lot that day, and it was even in a wreck causing very minor engine damage but severe body damage @ about 70k miles.

I've broken down twice in my Crossfire. :(

How much $ did you have to spend to make it last 250k? Any major repairs?
Just curious - :) .

04xfirecoupe, I have an '05 4Runner I hope will last many, many years.
BTW, my Accord has been hit 3 times.
1. Rear ended by a Cavalier on I-64 in WV.
2. Hit by a F250 in a Sam's Club parking lot.
3. Hit by a F350 dually in a hotel parking lot.
I think it may have a bullseye on it somewhere. LOL.

I just officially crossed the halfway mark with my Crossfire. It clicked over 50k miles this weekend.

Yep. gotta love them Hondas. I sold my '97 Prelude with 202k miles on it after I bought the Crossfire. Neither have given my any trouble to speak of...

FP, I had a 2003 Civic hatchback that had 40k on it when I bought it. I drove it until it had approximately 225k, when I gave it to my grand niece because she had totaled her car.
She drove it for a couple years, then I believe it had 248k on it when she sold it to some guy.
Except for exhaust, brakes, tires, 4 spark plugs, 1 radiator, 1 cam belt & water pump replacement (as preventive maintenance) and one CV joint "boot", it never broke down, not even once. I do think the rear 1/4 panels did eventually disintegrate though. But that just made the car lighter, so it got better gas mileage. :p

Its not only Honda's and Toyota's that go well over 100K with no major problems or rust, IMO every car from the early 90's onward that has been given reasonable maintenance and care should be able to go safely over 150K. I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee 4.7l V8 with over 130K that has been used for towing a 5,000 lbs horse trailer. It hasn't had any major problems. I have replaced 2 sets of rotors all the way around but I don't consider that a problem with the extra load of the trailer. It's on its 3rd set of new tires (including the originals). The only problem around 100K was a leaking gas tank (pin hole from rusting inside out) which could have been caused by water at the bottom of the tank. I did replace the fuel pump/sender unit while the tank was out as precaution. They were a couple of driveline noise issues initially that were eventually corrected under warranty.
My kids have driving 2.2l GM engine Chevy Cavalier's and S-10's over 160K with no major issues.

1998 Jeep grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited with 121,000 miles and it runs great and still hauls A**. :cool:

My dads '94 grand Cherokee will roll over 200,000 miles either this week or next.

My 1987 lebaron turbo coupe had 187K on it and never a problem. Only repairs were timing belt changed at 120K and o2 sensor at 100K. Of course new tires and fluids and normal maintenance. I actually gave it to may dad who's still driving it around. I'll ask him how many miles he's put on it. :confused:

My '97 Expedition has 163k and still going strong and looks great. It's my daily driver. Just maintenance repairs so far. I plan to take it to 250k.

Hondas are great cars for reliability. Too bad they are like A__holes, everybodies got one... I'd rather have something special and unigue that is a little less reliable that a cookie cutter car. But that's just me.

my 2008 ford explorer Hybrid had 48xxxx miles when I sold it to a buddy. Repairs include everything from water pump, tstat, alternator, oil, filters, plugs, wires, etc, etc. tranny was rebuilt at just under 300k. It still runs but head gasket is going/gone and it burns a bit of oil.

what is with you people and your high milage??I had a 62 Dodge 900 that I put over 500,000 A 66 ford Gas 1000 over700,000, A 74 dodge 1000 with 550.000. these units all had the same engine&drive train at this milage 200,000 is just the break in period. Lorne
