no offense to ppro, but real Jeeps have solid front axles.

i could stretch it further to "real Jeeps are made in Toledo" but then i'd be offending both of you.

No offense taken - my real Jeep has solid front and rear axles. Locked.

I loved my ****** CJ-2A (1948) but it was a tractor compared to my TJ. There were a few things it could do that the TJ can't (break-over angle was incredible) but the TJ is a much more well-rounded vehicle for the modern world. I'd love to have another ****** someday, just not as a daily driver...

ah...i was joking anyways. i'm not that much of a purist. i don't care much for the Compass and Patriot though.

i like the Commanders. i don't need one that big (says the guy with the full size Jeep lol) but if i was looking to go that far the one thing i didn't like was the third row. i don't really need it and would rather have the space. i've seen a couple that were lifted and there is one done expedition style on Pirate 4x4 that is cool.

my dad was hoping that Chrysler would dump Commanders into the retiree/exec lease program like they did the Crossfires, but it never happened. would have been cool to play with.

The third and second row collapse though headroom is a little less because of the stadium seating, though not any less than the Cherokee with the blasted spare tire.

I find it's not as big as it looks, but perhaps that's the benefit of the 5.7 putting out enough power to move it properly.

When we were looking at them I had my wife drive the JK Wrangler with the 6 cylinder. She complained it was weak.

Then we drove the Commander and she contemplated getting it with the 6 cylinder (she test drove the 5.7) so I reminded her of the drive in the Wrangler and her comment. Then reminded her the Commander was another 2000 pounds over the Wrangler. There are many ways to get a Hemi sold to your wife. That way worked very well for me. Can't imagine the Commander with a 6 cylinder...must suck.

We took it on trails and with the Quad II Low Range/Electronic LSD it's unstoppable. If I were going to run trails with it regularly I would ditch the chin spoiler and mud flaps, put a lift on it, and probably put rocker armor and real bumpers on it, not to mention a 12.5K winch. AEV's Iceland version comes to mind. But I gotta send two boys to college before we do something like that...

Of course there's always the Startech version... (blech!)

Just a bit of info for you guys. Hummers are really jeeps.

AMC American motors corporation spun off a military version of the company as a subsidiary called AM general (American Motors General) .....which distributed the Hummer. American motors developed, engineered, and built the original hummers for military use. Many of the parts are interchangeable with Jeeps, even to this day. Also Look at the 7 slot grill on the hummer.........now look at the Jeeps grill......also 7 slots. They're brothers!

So whenever you see a hummer be sure to say nice JEEP!

What parts are interchangeable?

How is it working there? Everybody I ever talk to when I order sounds like they're loving life. Do they pipe in happy gas or something?

I'm trying to find my way to get the Hiline Fender portion of this AEV kit. I want to run '33's without any more lift (I have the OME HD lift right now). Thing is - that's $2K for the parts and then there's the time for me to do the install and paint. Not really fitting well into my $$ and time budgets right now.

Then I start looking at the AEV Commander mod's and my eyes roll back in my head...

Then I look at the HEMI Install kit (almost $6K without the HEMI) for the Wrangler, and I start plotting crimes... This stuff really looks great.

What keeps me from pegging my credit card is being grateful to have these vehicles that I do have, at all and that they all run well.

I hope they keep making the kit long enough for me to steer clear to it.

I've loved Jeeps ever since I was a kid, and watched "Nelly Bell" on TV. Never owned one, but I've always loved em.

Guys i'm just saying that both were made by American motors. so they are brothers.

Also with all the Jeep fans here, I can't tell you how many times Chrysler has asked us how we want our jeeps made, and asked feedback on the Customer advisory board. If you wanna get involved go to www.chryslerlistens.com and try to get onto the CAB. I'm an active member on that, and It's very interesting.

Really just like any other call center. The new building is a lot nicer than the old one though... More comfortable chairs as well.. You just got some good guys answering the phone.

As far as the Hiline kit.... If you're on an Old Man Emu kit more than likely the 4" for 33's with the hiline and that same lift you can do 37's. AEV's diesel Wrangler is equipped like that. Old Man Emu springs along with Rubicon Express's springs are the stiffest so they lift a little higher than advertised.

Someone near where I live had a Hummer for a while. I have no idea how they got it in their drive - the roads are all double parked, and turning space is tight. I could not work out how they got it to fit without causing damage to other vehicles, buildings and the road.

It’s not there - I suspect they found it too much of a sod to manoeuvre.

The H3 is based on the Colorado/Canyon platform. Same frame and engine.

I still love them though .

Paul,

With a CAI and jet tune, how much power are you getting out of that 5 cylinder?

Hi, K&N sent me the dyno of the intake for 10 Hp and 11 tor. I don't have proof on the Jet tune (15-30 Hp). Now the truck is confortable passing and going uphills. Before the tune, it would sudently jump up in rpms and make the engine screem. It does not do that anymore due to the extra power. It does feel quicker of the line with both mods.
